Description

Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.

The Global Policy & Governance Manager will join a growing, dynamic Kuiper Operations team and be able to immediately and directly enhance Amazon Kuiper’s advocacy on a broad range of business policies. Like our business interests, our policy issues are broad, forward-thinking, and driven by what is best for our customers.

The Global Policy & Governance Manager will design, develop, implement and manage policy requirements and ensure they are followed across Amazon Kuiper. This person will also serve as the central resource for providing guidance regarding Policy & Procedure (P&P) governance and assistance from intake to publishing, including collaborating with stakeholders and subject matter experts to provide support regarding P&Ps.

Export Control Requirement:

A successful candidate in this role will be a self-starter who is passionate about telecom compliance and building out the policies. This person should also be able to earn trust and effectively collaborate with stakeholders across the company (e.g., Product, Engineering, Legal, Risk & Compliance, Finance, Accounting, Tax, Sales, Service Delivery, Customer Support, Global Country Expansion team). They must have strong communication skills (written and verbal) to drive policies & procedures, ensure they are communicated effectively for awareness and understanding of compliance and business requirements. This individual must be able to think big and be creative to deliver results; work both independently and collaboratively. This person will be expected to consistently raise the high bar of compliance and operational excellence as we rapidly grow, scale, and innovate to make Amazon Kuiper the most customer-centric business on earth.

Key job responsibilities

Lead and oversee Amazon Kuiper’s P&Ps, including monitoring the review/approval workflow process and ensuring policy administration requirements are followed.

Provide resources and support to stakeholders across Amazon Kuiper to ensure effective implementation and adherence to P&Ps.

Review and evaluate policies & procedures to identify gaps and make constructive recommendations for edits, enhancements, and additional level of detail.

Support post-publishing P&Ps audits to ensure proper communication/training of these and compliance with the requirements.

Manage the retention and centralization of P&Ps and ensure proper storage and accessibility across the organization.

Support responding to P&P related requests from internal and external compliance reviews, audits, and risk assessments.

Assist with the development of compliance trainings tied to P&P requirements.

Basic Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in a relevant field.

  • Strong skills in advocacy and using spoken and written arguments to persuade and inform.

  • Highly effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; demonstrated ability to effectively and comfortably interact at all corporate and political levels. Ability to create factual, relevant and easily understandable talking points and other messaging, and persuasively deliver it to relevant audiences.

  • Self-starter who can take general direction and produce specific results.

  • Ability to identify and understand key technical aspects pertaining to corporate operations in legislative and regulatory proposals, understand business implications, and synthesize policy documents for internal and external customers. You can think critically, process data from multiple sources, forecast potential scenarios, prioritize based on probability and desired outcome, and recommend a best course of action.

  • Ability to influence, negotiate with, and effectively persuade others is required. Must be flexible and demonstrate strong judgment / decision-making skills, and political acumen and awareness.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $124,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $206,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
