Description
A non-profit in Rancho Bernardo, CA is seeking a meticulous and proactive Payroll Specialist to process payroll and ensure employee compensation is accurate and timely. This individual will play a critical role in maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and providing excellent customer service to employees with payroll-related inquiries.
Responsibilities:
Process regular and off-cycle payroll for a diverse team of employees, ensuring all payments are accurate, timely, and in compliance with company policies.
Verify employee timecards, hours worked, and approved deductions through payroll systems.
Maintain and update employee payroll records, including tax information, direct deposit details, and benefit deductions.
Conduct reconciliations of payroll accounts and prepare payroll journal entries for posting to the general ledger.
Handle payroll tax filings, ensure compliance with wage laws, and generate year-end tax documents (W-2s, etc.).
Assist employees with payroll-related inquiries promptly, delivering accurate information with excellent customer service.
Support audits and internal reviews by providing necessary payroll data and documentation.
Requirements
Associate’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; bachelor’s degree is preferred.
2+ years of experience in payroll processing; experience with [Insert payroll software, e.g., ADP, Paycom, etc.] is a plus.
Knowledge of federal, state, and local wage laws and tax regulations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ability to work with large data sets.
High attention to detail, strict confidentiality, and excellent problem-solving skills.
