Red Hat Senior Software Quality Engineer in Raleigh, North Carolina

Responsible for the quality and delivery of the Red Hat In-Vehicle Operating System, as well as its alignment with functional safety requirements. Design test plans to validate the functionalities of Automotive offering, and the delivery and integrity of content made accessible to customers.

*Telecommuting role to be performed anywhere in the U.S.

What You Will Do:

  • Ensure that test plans are captured in the proper repositories and create the needed traceability to ensure functional safety requirements for the Automotive offering.

  • Design and develop test automation to validate the functionalities of Automotive offering, and the content delivery pipeline for the Automotive offering.

  • Execute manual and automated tests to validate the functionalities of Automotive offering, and the content delivery pipeline for Automotive customer content.

  • Maintain and modify existing test automation, ensuring it is updated to support new product features, infrastructure changes, and dependency changes.

  • Fix errors in test automation identified as part of test failure debugging activities.

  • Analyze logs and reports generated by automated testing to determine cause of any test failures.

  • Work with counterparts in development, product management, and quality engineering to understand requirements and develop a strategy to test new functionality and features.

  • Create and update documentation of any test procedures within automated test source code to ensure maintainability of the code.

  • Create and update user documentation for each test procedure to ensure repeatability and compliance with functional safety standards.

  • Perform technical investigation to debug test failures and gather relevant data for the reporting of any defects identified.

  • Monitor defects in Automotive offering especially the content delivery functionality for updates or resolution and validate bug fixes for assigned defects.

  • Collaborate with the Documentation team to review documentation related to Automotive offering, especially content delivery or customer access to Automotive content to ensure the documents are accurate and complete.

  • Test with the customer experience in mind and provide feedback to developers on usability and functionality in the form of defects.

What You Will Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field and five (5) years of experience in the job offered or related role.

  • Must have five (5) years of experience with Linux quality or software engineering;

  • Must have five (5) years of experience with using and managing Linux systems;

  • Must have five (5) years of experience with Python, Shell, Bash or C programming;

  • Must have five (5) years of experience with software test planning, test cases design, test automation, and documentation, as well as design and implementation or contribution to existing test framework;

  • Must have five (5) years of experience with debugging and troubleshooting;

  • Must have three (3) years of experience with Git or similar tools;

  • Must have three (3) years of experience with continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD).

The salary range for this position is $129,522 - 194,430. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.

Pay Transparency

Red Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat’s compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity. For positions with Remote-US locations, the actual salary range for the position may differ based on location but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
