In this role you will lead the efforts to expand the company use of technology to enable and achieve the organization’s goals and objectives. Provide strategic view and leads the design, development, and implementation of commerce domain architectures, roadmaps, and best practices that produces business outcomes. Develop and communicates reference architecture documents and product standards and, develops and maintains enterprise technical roadmaps. Evaluate new vendor products and services with an eye for innovation. May lead Enterprise Architecture across multiple domains.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

Required:

  • 12+ years of progressive leadership in solutions, development, and technical architecture with a minimum of 5 years at a Senior Management level

  • Five year’s recent experience in developing and leveraging current and emerging Cloud technologies across IT platforms.

  • Experience working across multiple business disciplines and IT

  • Experience establishing and facilitating the evaluation, selection, and introduction of technology and software development strategies across multiple IT Organizations.

  • Experience working in a multi-cloud environment.

  • Experience in modern development practices and methodologies, industry shifts in application architecture, and positive servant-based leadership.

  • Experience revenue management and overall commerce domains.

Preferred:

  • Undergraduate/graduate degree (e.g. Management Information Systems, Computer Sciences)

  • Applications development leadership experience

  • Demonstrated success leading medium- to large-scale initiatives/transformations across enterprise platforms.

  • Proven executive experience in IT development across waterfall and agile environments.

  • Designing and building for performance, scalability & reliability of high traffic customer facing digital platforms

  • Experience leveraging micro-services development patterns and principles.

  • Experience working with Enterprise APIs and working with API management platforms.

  • Proven management experience in strategic planning and budgeting within one or more business groups

  • Experience with and knowledge of global IT outsourcing activities in a managed services environment

  • Experience transforming mainframe-based applications into modern open system technologies.

  • Demonstrated ability to assess customer/client needs, creatively approach solutions, decide and influence appropriate courses of action.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas in easy-to-understand business terms.

  • Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

  • Designs and develops sustainable enterprise software, integrations, and system architectures on multiple Cloud Service Provider platforms for the commerce domain.

  • Consults on and influences engineering best practices in an event driven architecture, leveraging and defining DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, logging, metrics, monitoring.

  • Manages day-to day relationships with Technology teams to promote the onboarding of new services that meet or exceed the program/IT expectations.

  • Craft technical artifacts and presentations to communicate architectural design options that help educate product, engineering, and business users and teams.

  • Support product development teams, infra teams around implementation of solutions.

  • Analyzing complex business and software requirements leading to the selection and implementation of appropriate technical public cloud architectural solutions

  • Define the application-level architecture for leveraging cloud-native, open-source, and SaaS solutions in collaboration with Infrastructure, Security, and Network.

  • Analysis of existing solutions alignment to infrastructure standards and providing feedback to both evolve and mature the solution.

  • Champions the development of architecture associates to define and validate technical roadmaps and standards and to evaluate and seek professional talent.

  • Developing Others - Supports the development of other’s skills and capabilities so that they can fulfill current or future job/role responsibilities more effectively.

Managing Application Development Standards, Processes, and Tools

  • Works with direct reports to facilitate consistency of service delivery across client groups

  • Facilitates compliance with the standard set of application development tools and processes that will drive consistency and predictability throughout the SDLC for all client groups including:

  • SDLC standard tools and processes for both waterfall and agile development

  • Estimating standard tools and processes, incorporating flexibility for small and large projects

  • Deployment standard tools and processes

  • Monitors projects for adherence to defined application development processes

  • Communicates to Application Development leaders opportunities to create broader IT related and corporate standards and policies where necessary

  • Communicates important application development policy changes that affect service provider and/or Marriott operations

Managing Day-To-Day Relationships with Teams

  • Manages application development projects in partnership with IT teams, business partners and providers

  • Provides project management of business projects

  • Oversees effective reporting within application development team

  • Leads project reviews with team on application development projects

  • Manages day-to day relationships with all IT teams to promote the delivery of services that meet or exceed the client expectations

  • Monitors projects for alignment with defined business case process

  • Drives timely resolution of escalated service delivery problems and minimizes the impact of any client service delivery issues

  • Manages, and improves service level reporting for application development

  • Provides early warning to the appropriate Business Partnership & Planning leaders and team regarding degraded or missed service levels

  • Assists with application, development and maintenance of service provider project management standards and tools

  • Participates in client portfolio and demand management processes, and engages service providers to ensure client satisfaction

  • Works with application development service providers

  • Validates the service provider(s) performs the services agreed to by the master services agreement in a manner that is consistent with both the spirit and the letter of the agreement

  • Works with team to progress the service providers services to match client needs

  • Facilitates team and service provider compliance with the agreement

  • Validates service levels meet business needs

  • Facilitates the definition and enforcement of good service provider contracts

  • Supports the IT organization

  • Provides input to IT’s business strategy and planning as needed

California Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $127,088 to $281,923 annually.

Colorado Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $127,088 to $256,293 annually.

Hawaii Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $153,776 to $281,923 annually.

New York Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $127,088 to $281,923 annually.

Washington Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $127,088 to $281,923 annually. In addition to the annual salary, the position will be eligible to receive an annual bonus and restricted stock units/stock grants. Employees will accrue 0.04616 PTO balance for every hour worked and eligible to receive minimum of 7 holidays annually.
