Rubrik is looking for a Product Certifications Program Manager to join our amazing Public Sector Compliance Team. This position proves product conformance to U.S. government requirements including technical security configuration standards ( Common Criteria, NIAP Protection Profile, Evaluation Assurance Levels, FIPS, STIG ), procurement regulations ( Approved Product Lists, CMMC, Section 508, CUI ), and operational criteria ( Assessment and Authorization, Security and Configuration Baselines, Security Architecture, Data Flows, Encryption ). A key part of this role is producing deeply technical documentation such as SCAP Content, System Security Plans (perhaps in OSCAL format in the future), hardening guidance, complex boundary and system diagrams, white papers, competitive analyses, and A&A materials for DoD, Intelligence, and Civilian Federal Sector customers.

Our ideal candidate is not just fluent in FIPS, STIG, and EAL certification; they will have prior hands-on experience with HW / SW / Cloud product configuration for security, testing for information assurance, and demonstrating technical conformance or compliance with product certification standards and criteria. As an example, the selected candidate will work directly with DISA to generate and test SCAP checklists in order to publish and maintain Rubrik’s official product hardening guidance (STIG). They will specify how a product configuration must be set to meet certain FIPS requirements and will maintain Rubrik’s listing(s) in the Cryptographic Module Validation Program (CMVP)’s database of validated modules. They must lead cross functional efforts to influence and drive changes that enhance or enforce secure product configuration. This role will work externally with third party testing labs to certify products and verify Rubrik’s inherited posture of third party components. The successful candidate will have deep subject matter knowledge, technical project delivery expertise, outstanding writing skills, and the ability to translate “govspeak” into clear language for effective collaboration.

Responsibilities:

A. Serve as Program Manager, Project Lead, and Subject Matter Expert for the following product certifications for FedGov:

  • (FIPS) Cryptographic Module Validation Program (CMVP)

  • Common Criteria (EAL2+) and NIAP Protection Profile

  • DISA STIG / Security Technical Implementation Guide (Product Hardening)

  • DoD CMMC / NIST SP 800-171

  • Section 508 / VPAT / Web Content Accessibility

  • Listing on US (DoDIN) and other APLs

  • IPv6 Product Readiness

B. Develop or contribute to the following documentation and artifacts:

  • System Security Plan(s)

  • Architecture / Marketecture diagrams

  • Data Sheets, White Papers, and Competitive Analysis

  • Project / Product Requirements Document

  • Security Testing and Evaluation (ST&E) and associated remediation plans

  • Security Control Traceability Matrix (SCTM) / Requirements (SRTM)

  • Self Attestation(s) (e.g. CJIS, EO14028, SBOM)

  • Trusted Internet Connections (TIC) / Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA; SP 800-207)

C. Share responsibility with the team for additional Assessment & Authorization programs:

  • DISA / DoD: Impact Level 5+ Certification and Authorization of National Security Systems (formerly NIACAP)

  • Defense Information Assurance Risk Management Framework (DIARMF)(formerly DIACAP)

  • NSA/CSS Information Systems Certification and Accreditation Process (NISCAP)

  • Intelligence Community Directive ICD 503

  • FedRAMP: Moderate / High

  • CJIS (Criminal Justice Information Services)

  • NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) / Cyber Security Framework (CSF)

  • StateRAMP / TX-RAMP / AZRAMP

Ideal Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; BS or MS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a relevant field

  • 5+ years experience in comparably technical work (ISSE role, Sales-Solutions Engineering, Security Engineering, IT or Cloud Infrastructure / Configuration), preferably at a HW/SW (products, not services) company serving US FedGov

  • 3+ years experience in product certification for cybersecurity and compliance, or comparable work in government / military service

  • 3+ years experience in technical writing, producing technical reports and white papers, or generating system / product security and compliance deliverables

  • Subject Matter Expert in FIPS testing, compliance, conformance, and validation

  • Prior experience producing or validating VPAT / Section 508 documentation

  • Maintained Approved Product Lists, Common Criteria, and Protection Profile requirements

  • Prior Assessment or Authorization experience with any of these frameworks: NIST SP 800-171, DoD Impact Level, FedRAMP; CJIS; NIST RMF; NIST CSF; NIST SP 800-53;

  • Not required but nice to have :

  • JSON, YAML, XML, or other coding skills and knowledge

  • Certification: CISSP or similar certification(s) of relevance for the role

  • Experience in generating Competitive Product Compliance Intelligence

  • Prior work with U.S. Federal Defense, Intelligence, and FedCiv Agencies

  • Active Security Clearance

  • Prior experience with “Federal Subsidiary/Enclave” to address FOCI

  • Prior role as Facility Security Officer or in managing security clearances

  • Familiarity with NIST OSCAL (Open Security Controls Assessment Language) as a mechanism for machine-readable control catalogs, control baselines and overlays, system security plans, ConMon automation, and assessment artifacts

  • Prior use of Jira, Confluence, and LucidChart or MS Visio

Security and Privacy Responsibilities section:

This position carries special Security and Privacy Responsibilities for protecting the U.S. Federal Government’s interests:

  • Know, acknowledge, and follow system-specific security policies and procedures;

  • Protect data and individual privacy per requirements and regulations;

  • Perform ongoing activities in compliance with service and contractual obligations;

  • Participate in role-based training, completing assignments on a timely basis;

  • Report security issues promptly, and aid investigation when needed;

  • Support controlled changes and vulnerability remediation activities; and

  • Work collaboratively with Information Security in designing, implementing, assessing or enhancing system-specific security and privacy controls.

Position Risk Designation section:

This position carries duties and responsibilities involving the U.S. Federal Government’s interests. The selected incumbent may be subject to one or both of the additional background checks with periodic re-screening as noted below:

Position Risk Designation: Non-Sensitive, Low Risk, Tier 1

Incumbents without access to U.S. Government data may be required to complete Standard Form 85 and undergo a Tier 1 Investigation (T1) for non-sensitive positions of Low Risk. (Baseline screening; formerly National Agency Check and Inquiries (NACI)).

Position Risk Designation: Non-Sensitive, Moderate Risk, Tier 2 (Public Trust)

Incumbents with access to U.S. Government data may be required to complete Standard Form 85P and undergo Tier 2 (T2) Investigation for non-sensitive positions designated Moderate Risk.

Position Risk Designation:Moderate Risk Law Enforcement (CJIS)

When hired for a position where access to Moderate Risk criminal justice information is required, the employee must complete a fingerprint-based national criminal history background check within 30 days after the employee’s start date.

$172,000—$258,000 USD
