Technical SME, Clinical Applications - Position Profile

The Technical Subject Matter Expert (SME), Clinical Applications, will play a pivotal role in promoting and selling Ricoh's 3D anatomic modeling services to healthcare providers. The individual in this position will identify new sales opportunities, travel to clinical care locations to demonstrate products, and provide services to existing customers. In addition, the SME will collaborate with healthcare practitioners to educate them on Ricoh’s 3D solutions, helping them solve challenges and apply design thinking to create innovative solutions.

To ensure success, the Clinical Applications Specialist will establish and maintain a robust sales network and demonstrate expertise as a salesperson within the medical device field. The specialist will become a trusted ambassador for Ricoh 3D for Healthcare, representing the brand and its services.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Sales Pipeline Development : Identify potential buyers and cultivate a sales pipeline to drive Ricoh 3D for Healthcare sales activities.

Customer Visits & Demonstrations : Travel to clinical care locations to demonstrate Ricoh 3D products and services, fostering strong relationships with healthcare professionals.

Collaboration with Internal Teams : Work with internal departments to relay product features and drive the utilization of On-Demand or On-Premises (Point of Care) 3D anatomic modeling services.

Sales Tracking & Reporting : Maintain accurate sales records within CRM or other tracking documents, and consistently meet and exceed sales metrics.

Educational Programs : Conduct events and programs to educate clinical staff on the use of patient-specific solutions provided by Ricoh 3D.

Collaboration with Production Teams : Work closely with Ricoh production staff and Point of Care staff to drive business and ensure maximum customer satisfaction.

Flexible Scheduling : Accommodate the rapidly changing schedules of healthcare professionals to set appointments.

Product Knowledge : Memorize product features, advantages, benefits, unique selling points, and effectively present their functionalities using appropriate medical terminology.

Post-Sale Training : Conduct post-sale training sessions for individual product users, professional teams, or entire healthcare departments.

Sales Forecasting & Reporting : Provide regular updates on territory sales forecasts, status reports, and quarterly sales projections.

Contract Negotiation : Close new business deals by coordinating requirements, developing and negotiating contracts, and aligning contract requirements with business operations.

Customer Relationship Management : Maintain existing customer networks and inform them of new product lines, upgrades, or indications.

Competitive Analysis : Analyze competitor products and highlight Ricoh’s unique product features during sales presentations.

Sales Process Management : Complete sales contracts, expedite purchase orders, and ensure seamless supply chain management.

Revenue & Profit Growth : Be responsible for the services revenue and profit growth for Ricoh 3D for Healthcare in the assigned territory.

Professional Conduct : Represent Ricoh 3D for Healthcare with the highest ethical and professional standards.

Additional Duties : Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications (Education, Experience, and Certifications)

Typically Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, biology, biomedical engineering, pre-medical, anatomy, mechanical engineering, or a related technical/business field.

  • 5+ years of sales, research, or clinical experience in the medical field.

  • Experience in additive manufacturing (preferred).

  • Prior experience working in a clinical environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.

  • Exceptional sales skills with the ability to demonstrate product features effectively.

  • Strong knowledge of medical procedures, anatomy/physiology/pathology, and generalized medical terminology.

  • Extensive experience in identifying new customers, negotiating deals, and meeting sales targets.

  • Experience in record-keeping and managing sales contracts.

  • Willingness to travel extensively and be away from home when required.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills suited to engaging with medical professionals.

Working Conditions, Mental and Physical Demands

  • Primarily office-based with adequate lighting, ventilation, and normal temperature/noise levels.

  • The work is mostly sedentary but requires walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting, or carrying objects weighing less than 10 lbs. (e.g., papers, books, files, and small parts).

  • Requires moderate dexterity for regular use of basic skills (e.g., calculator, keyboard, hand tools).

  • Daily customer site visits, which may require travel to locations not serviced by public transportation.
