As a CO+I Critical Environment Energy Marshall, you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. Responsibilities

  • Oversees and assures the overall compliance of Microsoft’s Energy Isolation Program and establish acceptance criteria for authorizing campus Energy Isolation Plan.

  • Implements learnings, provides consistency, and drives rigor into Microsoft’s Energy Isolation program and ensures program meets or exceeds company safety policy requirements.

  • Utilise local code and standards as the foundation for Microsoft’s Energy Isolation program that is implemented throughout the campus.

  • Establish with the Engineering team a centralized Lockout Tag Out (LOTO) procedure with all campus entities and determine if a group or individual LOTO procedure will be required.

  • Commencement of energy isolation activities with updates on a continuous basis.

  • Liaise with Microsoft construction team where Energy Isolation activities may potentially impact data center core operations.

  • Act in coordination with the Engineering team as a subject matter expert in all energy isolation incident investigations in area of responsibility

  • Participate in high-risk activity (HRA) planning meetings associated with energy isolation.

  • Ensures high-risk SOWs, SOPs and MOPs are reviewed, and all sources of energy are identified.

  • Ensure a process is established that verifies qualifications, training, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for personnel performing the work.

  • Generate monthly reports highlighting activities and general status of energy isolation program

  • Embody the Microsoft One culture and values .

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of technical engineering experience

  • OR Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 2+ years of technical engineering experience

  • OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 1+ year(s) of technical engineering experience

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 5+ year(s) of technical engineering experience

  • OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years of technical engineering experience.

  • Experience in critical environment and industry standards and practices

  • Ability to effectively communicate complex technical solutions and concepts to engineers and non-engineers

  • Ability to interpret line drawings and system redundancies to ensure design of LOTO systems is 100% effective and in compliance with Microsoft standards

  • Experience in the Control of Hazardous Energy in complex mission critical infrastructure

  • Experience with the operation and maintenance of building MEP systems. (Power distribution, lighting, grounding, fire alarm, security, life safety, controls systems and sprinkler systems)

  • Understanding of electrical theory and practical application via your maintenance & operation of critical electrical equipment. (Paralleling switchgear, redundant UPS systems, DC battery strings, multi-source electrical utility switchgear, standby diesel generators, etc.)

  • Knowledge of construction techniques, terminology, and documentation (blueprints, electrical one-lines, construction drawings etc.)

  • Practical experience with building management systems and automation, controls & frameworks.

Electrical Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,300 - $182,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $120,900 - $198,600 per year.
