This opportunity resides with Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C5ISR), a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division. Summary

HII- Mission Technologies is seeking a skilled Data Scientist to support the United States Forces Korea (USFK), Assistant Chief of Staff, J2 (ACofS, J2) JIOC-K in their mission to provide timely intelligence to Commander, USFK and Combined Forces Command, the combined battle staff, and war fighter component commanders!

The JIOC-K's efforts focus on detecting enemy threats, managing intelligence, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) activities, analyzing enemy actions and information to determine enemy's probable courses of action.

As a Data Scientist, you are responsible for building the next generation of data-driven products and systems focusing on capability delivery to end users. You will be a member of a “big data” team of specialists within the multi-disciplinary agile development team. As a Data Scientist, you will help manage requirements collection, software code, development, and delivery – full lifecycle – in support of analysts. You will engage in software solution planning and creation to ensure capabilities are delivered using the latest available technologies and methods. The Data Scientist will operate in a “RAD/JAD” environment in which tasks are rapidly defined and then executed to ensure maximum user input, feedback, and adoption. What you will do

  • Serve as a Data Scientist supporting a multi-discipline Intelligence Team

  • Generate fused intelligence products derived from contributions of team members and in collaboration with various teams within USFK

  • Analyzes actual and predictable interacting operational activities to obtain a quantitative, rational basis for decision making through the application of logic and scientific or economic disciplines and techniques

  • Devises modeling and measuring techniques; utilizes mathematics, statistical methods, engineering methods, pattern of life (PoL) analysis, operational mathematics techniques (linear programming, game theory, probability theory, symbolic language, etc), and other principles and laws of scientific and economic disciplines

  • Analyzes and assesses workflows in order to improve efficiency and identify gaps in various processes especially regarding the data lifecycle

  • Make recommendations for process improvement and platform maximization

  • Collects data using a combination of standard intelligence methods and business processes

  • Reviews, edits, and releases final intelligence products for customer and intelligence community distribution

  • Additional duties as assigned or required

What we are looking for

  • 0 years experience with Bachelors in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 years relevant experience

  • Proficiency with Data Science techniques/methods of extracting, organizing, and analyzing both structured and unstructured data to form useful insights and informed decisions

  • Proficient at Data Science techniques of Data Cleaning, Feature Engineering, Analysis (Descriptive, Diagnostic, Predictive, Prescriptive), Statistics, and Modeling

  • Proficiency in Data Science techniques/methods relative to applications in business analytics, machine learning, artificial intelligence, predictive modeling, and several other emerging fields of business, technology, and statistics

  • Strong problem-solving skills and creativity in developing and exploiting alternative sources of non-traditional information for DOD customer

  • Strong oral presentation, data visualization, and written communication skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Clearance: Must possess and maintain a TS/SCI clearance, with the continued ability to obtain a Poly

Bonus points for...

  • Proficiency in utilization of multiple tools, Big Data technologies, and methodologies that enable you to effectively solve problems utilizing data (SQL, Python/R, Git/Github, Hadoop, Spark, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Graph DBs)

  • Experience supporting USFK intelligence and or operations

  • Experience supporting USINDOPACOM intelligence mission and or operations

  • Experience in the Intelligence Community or Department of Defense experience with analysis, reporting and briefing in DOD settings

  • Experience working in a multi-skilled team environment collaborating on the production of intelligence analysis

  • Proficiency in intelligence community systems and tools

  • Previous experience briefing senior leadership at the General Officer, Flag Officer, or Senior Executive Service level

  • Previous expertise with Publicly Available Information and Open-Source Intelligence source (PAI/OSINT) analysis

Physical Requirements

May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
