Red Hat Associate Manager, Software Engineering in Pune, India

Job Summary:

The Red Hat Experience Engineering (XE) Sustaining Engineering team is looking for an Associate Manager for Software Engineering to join us. In this role, you will help build, and deliver on a new team aimed at improving the long-term product experience of our Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) customers. We will need you to have experience managing a team in a technological, fast-paced environment, combined with a passion for improving the product and customer experience.

What will you do?

Develop the recruiting and onboarding process for new team members

Lead your team by using Open Management Principles, build and guide career development and enablement plans, provide coaching, mentoring, and guidance to your team

Ensure that operations and processes are efficient and scalable to support the growth of long term maintenance of Red Hat products

Oversee the day-to-day activities of technical teams, consisting of junior to senior maintenance engineers

Promote and guide continuous professional and personal development of all team members

Promote customer-centric mindset and enhance problem solving capabilities of the team

Collaborate with Product Engineering or Business Units, Quality Engineering, Documentation group as well as field teams like Sales function, Solution Architects or marketing teams as needed

Receive assignments in the form of objectives and define how to use resources to meet schedules and goals

Provide guidance to associates within the established company policies; recommend changes to policies and procedures

Maintain knowledge of current technologies and business trends to provide appropriate evaluation of each situation

Follow processes and operational policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions

What will you bring?

5+ years of experience leading engineering teams

Experience building and scaling new teams

Experience managing teams in a technical environment

Solid analytical skills and applied knowledge of a problem-solving process with a process and data mindset.

Understanding of Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

Understanding of Red Hat products and the technologies they are built on

Adept at communicating with and influencing engineers and managers
