Summary: The Acute Care Hospital Risk Manager is a critical member of the hospital's administrative team responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks to ensure patient safety, compliance with regulations, and protection of hospital assets. This role involves analyzing potential risks, developing strategies to minimize liabilities, and implementing proactive measures to prevent incidents that could compromise patient care or hospital operations. The Acute Care Hospital Risk Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring a safe and compliant environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This position demands a proactive approach to risk identification, mitigation, and continuous improvement to maintain the highest standards of patient care and operational excellence.

Education: ​Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, risk management, nursing, or related field. JD preferred. Certification in Risk Management, Patient Safety (CHRM, CPHRM, CPPS) or similar certificate is highly desirable.

Experience: Extensive experience in healthcare risk management, preferably in an acute care hospital setting. Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, risk assessment methodologies, quality improvement processes, and hospital processes.

Working Conditions, Physical Environment and/or Safety Requirements: Normal office setting. Attends all related safety training and all other training programs as required by outside regulatory agencies and/or audits. Rectifies any specific job-related hazards for all areas of responsibility through appropriate measures. Stands, walks, and lifts (light to medium weights) most of the day. Required prolonged periods of visually examining documents and viewing computer screens. Must meet health-testing requirements.
