Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic Lead

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic Lead to repair, install, and maintain equipment, machinery, and facilities. The ideal candidate will quickly respond to production line calls, operate and observe machinery, and troubleshoot and repair production department electrical equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Repair, install, and maintain equipment, machinery, building, and facilities.

  • Quickly respond to production line calls and communicate status to production personnel.

  • Operate and observe machinery to test performance and troubleshoot issues.

  • Perform preventive maintenance and lubrication as needed.

  • Clean or lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, or other parts of machinery.

  • Ensure plant machinery is operating at peak efficiency.

  • Assist in training Maintenance/Engineering personnel on plant equipment.

  • Complete repair and installation requests, establishing time schedules to minimize production interference.

  • Support the company's mission, vision, strategic plan, goals, and management decisions.

  • Maintain a strong commitment to the global food safety initiative.

  • Follow standards for food safety and food quality production as reflected in SQF and regulations of major vendors and governmental agencies.

  • Adhere to Good Hygiene, Safe Work Practices, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).

  • Report any potential contamination and suspicious activity to a Supervisor or Manager immediately.

  • Work directly with the Maintenance Manager and other mechanics to troubleshoot and repair equipment and infrastructure.

  • Evaluate and recommend improvements in methods, procedures, and processes.

Essential Skills

  • 2 years of experience in a maintenance role within a manufacturing facility, preferably in the food and beverage industry.

  • 1 year minimum experience with technical skills such as electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, computer-controlled equipment, PLC, and HVAC.

  • Experience with lubricating, cleaning, material handling, motor control, relay control, process control, and packaging equipment.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Knowledge of basic electrical, mathematical, mechanical, and plumbing skills.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, contracts, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Ability to properly use a forklift when trained and certified.

  • Experience with document control, automation, robotics, conveyor maintenance, and PLC control.

  • Ability to follow and understand standards for food safety and food quality production.

  • Ability to follow Good Hygiene, Safe Work Practices, and GMPs.

  • Strong commitment to supporting the global food safety initiative.

Work Environment

All work will include hands-on training with ample learning opportunities. The position starts with training on the 1st shift: Monday - Friday from 5 AM - 1 PM. After training, the work shifts to the 2nd shift: Monday - Friday from 2 PM - 10 PM. Dress code includes clean jeans, a T-shirt, and work boots; no jewelry, sleeveless shirts, or nail polish allowed. Uniforms will be provided once permanent employment is confirmed.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Poughkeepsie, New York.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $45.00/hr.
