Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The primary purpose of this position will be to coordinate the execution of education for healthcare professionals in an interdisciplinary, immersive clinical simulation center. This position will play a crucial role in enhancing the learning experiences for staff and students through the effective use of simulation technologies and methodologies. This person will work collaboratively with the Nursing Professional Development Team to ensure program learning objectives are met. Key responsibilities encompass simulation operations to ensure the adoption of simulation best practices to establish and sustain a safe learning environment that fosters active learning and reflective thinking.

Essential Job Functions

  • Orients associates in the simulation center. This includes professional integrity, equipment, operations, simulation design, pre-briefing, facilitation, effective debriefing, and evaluation.

  • Collaborates with Nurse Professional Development team to design, implement and expand the application of clinical simulation learning experiences that effectively integrate theory, clinical, and lab activities to meet accreditation standards.

  • Plans and schedules simulation experiences

  • Teaches and evaluates associates and students as they demonstrate psychomotor and clinical judgement skills through simulated patient care experiences.

  • Manages procurement and maintenance of supplies and equipment within the Clinical Simulation Center.

  • Collaborates with Bon Secours Health System and community partners to provide a learning environment that promotes professional development of healthcare providers as needed.

  • Serves as a resource and consultant for simulation.

  • Attends educational conferences and seminars to determine state of the art teaching, learning and research initiatives for the Clinical Simulation Center to enhance professional growth and development.
