Universal Health Services Maintenance Worker - GENERAL in PORTSMOUTH, Virginia

Responsibilities

Harbor Point Behavioral Health Center offers intensive residential treatment services within a secure setting. Our programs are designed to meet the needs of youth ages 7- 17 who are experiencing emotional, psychiatric and educational difficulties. In addition to our general psychiatric programs, we also offer specialty programs for youth with more serious challenges. Harbor Point and its programs are fully accredited by The Joint Commission and the Virginia Association of Independent Specialized Educational Facilities. We are licensed by The Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services and the Virginia Department of Education. We are a TRICARE®-approved and certified facility.

Position Scope : Completes major and minor repairs to maintain the physical plant of the facility. Assists with the security and safety of residents, staff and visitors.

    Qualifications

    Experience: Two or more years’ maintenance or construction experience. Must possess knowledge of general maintenance work procedures; ability to operate power and hand tools; ability to follow written and oral instructions.

    Education: High school graduate, GED or equivalent experience.

    Qualifications: Skills, knowledge, and abilities to include working knowledge of hospital accreditation and licensure standards and processes; working knowledge of physical plant operations and systems, preventative maintenance and safety policies/practice and working knowledge of effective housekeeping practices.

    Physical Requirements: Physical requirements include repetitive bending, stooping, climbing, lifting weights 50 - 80 lbs without assistance and in excess of 80lbs with assistance; accurate hearing and vision; ability to drive van/car/truck; must be able to work long hours; on call 24 hours/day. Must possess valid driver's license. Requires a full range of body motion including the ability to perform Handle With Care.
