Description
We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a detail-oriented Accountant in Portsmouth, Virginia. The Accountant role involves working in the telecom provider industry and performing complex financial tasks such as report preparation, auditing, and account analysis. This Accountant role is a contract to hire opportunity!
Responsibilities:
• Prepare routine to complex financial reports and statements
• Conduct research, analysis, and interpretation of financial information
• Make efficiency recommendations based on financial analysis
• Perform audits as appropriate
• Monitor and analyze accounts like receivables, payables, and fixed assets for accuracy
• Verify account codes, transaction amounts, and other related data
• Process expenditure and revenue transfer requests
• Prepare journal entries to revenue and expenditures in the general ledger and subsidiary accounts
• Reconcile general ledger account balances and research financial records
• Prepare various financial reports such as cash flow reports, statements of financial conditions, and capital asset values and depreciation
• Assist in the development and updating of accounting systems
• Prepare specialized financial reports and statements as needed.
Requirements • Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems is essential
• Extensive knowledge of all Accounting Functions
• Experience handling Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Ability to carry out Auditing tasks efficiently
• Experience in managing Budget Processes is a plus
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field is required
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Attention to detail and accuracy in work
• Good organizational and time management skills
• Ability to handle confidential information responsibly
• Professional certification (e.g., CPA) is desirable but not mandatory.
