Do you thrive in an environment where your contributions make a meaningful impact?  Port City Veterinary Referral Hospital is seeking a full-time Veterinary Technician to join our flourishing Medical Oncology Department.

You will play a key role in providing excellent care to our patients with responsibilities that will include, (but are not limited to):

  • Patient intakes and obtaining patient histories.

  • Medical documentation of histories, treatments, and diagnostics using veterinary software (EzyVet).

  • Respond and document client inquiries received through department voicemail, client callbacks, and follow up calls.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in phlebotomy and catheterization skills.

  • Assist medical teams with exams, treatments, and diagnostics (chemotherapy treatments, patient exams, etc.)

  • Obtain and prepare diagnostic samples (blood, urine, fine needle aspirates).

  • Perform medical calculations and administer patient treatments.

  • Radiographic positioning and technique, assist with CT scans and ultrasounds.

  • Monitor and safely recover sedated procedures.

  • Assist with hospitalized patient treatments and ensuring excellent patient care.

  • Client communication pertaining to treatment plans, estimates, discharge instructions, and medications.

  • Filling patient prescriptions and perform laboratory procedures.

    Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in veterinary technology, or CVT/LVT/RVT

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a veterinary hospital setting preferred.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.

  • Reasonable understanding of veterinary medicine and basic disease processes.

    Anticipated Schedule:

  • Four 10-hour shifts

  • We are a 24-hour, 365 day per year hospital, a minimum of two holiday shifts per year and the ability to work a rotating weekend schedule is required.

  • $22 - $40 pending skills assessment leveling
