Job Information

Providence Service Engineer II IS - Remote in Portland, Oregon

Description

This role is a remote opportunity. Currently we are unable to hire in the following states: CO, HI, NY, OH, MA and PA.

Service Engineers work in partnership with developers, testers, and program managers, (typically early in the development process) to design, operate, grow,

and improve large-scale, computer-based services offered to IS, non-IS and clinical caregivers. Their technical skills are on par with their Development, Test,

and Program Management counterparts.

Essential Functions:

  • Understands the caregiver, business, and technical requirements. Uses expertise to contribute to components of a service architecture, and operability and caregiver scenarios that meet compliance standards and KPIs, such as quality, cost, and caregiver expectation.

  • Analyzes the current service delivery system and uses his or her judgment to identify improvements that enable the team to create a system that supports service delivery and meets KPIs.

  • Performs advanced troubleshooting and identifies or engineers solutions for service issues to restore service with minimal disruption to the caregiver and business. Owns the problem, solving it once and for all. Extrapolates from past experiences and delivers innovations.

  • Actively takes part in disaster recovery drills. Participates as needed in incident response management during non-working hours.

  • Uses expertise to identify relevant data, and provides analysis on actual versus projected capacity requirements, based on service KPIs, evolving caregiver usage scenarios, and new feature releases to enable the team to create a viable cost model.

  • Maximizes the effectiveness of financial resources.

  • Uses expertise to identify process or technology solutions to identify and resolve platform, system, deployment and environmental issues prior to solution release, and that ensure an on-time release with predictable high quality.

  • Participates in triaging and uses problem management tools (such as root cause analysis, trend analysis, and postmortems). Contributes to and implements a solution.

  • Ensures that production solutions are reliable, resilient, secure and effective and continuously monitored.

  • Collects metrics (such as service availability data, performance measures, system health, and long-term trends) to support service intelligence analysis.

  • Collaborates with broader engineering team members to support personal growth, or growth and development of others

Job Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to read, write, configure code, and design for end-to-end service telemetry, alerting and self-healing capabilities.

  • Demonstrated expertise in web services, virtualization and cloud concepts.

  • Knowledge of infrastructure and server products such as Windows Server, Virtualization, SQL Server, Network technologies, Active Directory, and Cloud technologies and services.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to create technical presentations/documents. Basic project management.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or equivalent educ/experience

  • 2 years Related experience

  • Experience in automation, specifically related to deployment, recovery, or other manual processes

  • Experience with n-tier solutions

  • Experience with resilience modeling (failure mode analysis) and ability to simulate service outages for point solutions (automated) and platforms (manually)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years related experience

  • Experience in a Healthcare environment 

  • Azure certification

  • Server management and support familiarity

  • Comprehension of network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs

  • Experience with IT service management tools such as ServiceNow and Azure Dev Ops (ADO)
