Description
A mission-driven non-profit organization is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounts Payable and Payroll Specialist to join our team on a contract-to-hire basis. This role is crucial to ensuring smooth financial operations, timely payroll management, and accurate accounts payable processes. The successful candidate will have a strong passion for organizational integrity, financial accuracy, and contributing to the success of a non-profit that makes a difference in the community.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable (A/P)
Manage the timely processing of invoices, purchase orders, and expense reports.
Ensure vendor payments are accurate and in compliance with organizational policies.
Perform regular reconciliations of accounts payable to ensure proper documentation and record-keeping.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies or issues with vendors and internal stakeholders.
Payroll Management:
Process bi-weekly or monthly payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local wage regulations.
Maintain accurate payroll records, including tax withholdings, benefits deductions, and timekeeping.
Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll-related issues.
Collaborate with HR to ensure accurate and timely transmission of employee benefits updates and deductions.
Requirements
Education: Associate degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Experience: 2-5 years of experience in accounts payable and/or payroll management roles.
Non-profit accounting experience is a plus.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software and payroll systems such as QuickBooks, ADP, or Paychex. Intermediate Excel skills are required.
Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and excellent communication skills. Integrity and teamwork are essential for success in this role.
