Robert Half Accounts Payable & Payroll Specialist in Portland, Oregon

Description

A mission-driven non-profit organization is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounts Payable and Payroll Specialist to join our team on a contract-to-hire basis. This role is crucial to ensuring smooth financial operations, timely payroll management, and accurate accounts payable processes. The successful candidate will have a strong passion for organizational integrity, financial accuracy, and contributing to the success of a non-profit that makes a difference in the community.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable (A/P)

  • Manage the timely processing of invoices, purchase orders, and expense reports.

  • Ensure vendor payments are accurate and in compliance with organizational policies.

  • Perform regular reconciliations of accounts payable to ensure proper documentation and record-keeping.

  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies or issues with vendors and internal stakeholders.

Payroll Management:

  • Process bi-weekly or monthly payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local wage regulations.

  • Maintain accurate payroll records, including tax withholdings, benefits deductions, and timekeeping.

  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll-related issues.

  • Collaborate with HR to ensure accurate and timely transmission of employee benefits updates and deductions.

    Requirements

  • Education: Associate degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

  • Experience: 2-5 years of experience in accounts payable and/or payroll management roles.

  • Non-profit accounting experience is a plus.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software and payroll systems such as QuickBooks, ADP, or Paychex. Intermediate Excel skills are required.

  • Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and excellent communication skills. Integrity and teamwork are essential for success in this role.
