Thompson Pump and Manufacturing Co., Inc. SERVICE MECHANIC III in Port Orange, Florida
Summary: Diagnosing and repair of all models of pump and diesel engines malfunctions including vacuum pumps, hydraulic pumps, electric submersible pumps and controls, rotary pumps, air, electric & engine driven diaphragm pumps and related equipment. Assures that all equipment is maintained, serviced and repaired according to TPM standards.
Required to do Field Service as needed, including the training of customers on pump operation and service requirements.
Assist with deliveries, including loading of heavy equipment onto transport vehicles.
Complete and submit essential paperwork on time.
Drive trucks with trailers and deliver and pick-up pumps and equipment.
Troubleshoot and identify wide-ranging diesel engine, pump, and equipment problems on various models.

Troubleshoot, diagnosis, and repair AC/DC control panels of various models.
Troubleshoot engine and pump problems over the phone w/ customers.
Train and supervise junior mechanics on engines, pumps, and equipment.
Required to work after hours and on weekends when needed, and participate in an on-call list for off-hours servicing and repairs.
Assist other departments as necessary
Accurately troubleshoot control panels, equipment, engines, pumps, and applications in person and over phone conveying confidence.Operate a service truck and respond to after-hours customer repair call
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform diagnosis, troubleshooting and minor service and repairs on diesel and gas engines.
Perform diagnosis, troubleshooting and minor service and repairs on pumps and equipment.
Deliver equipment to customer locations and job sites, including loading/unloading trucks.
Set-up & installation of pumps and related equipment to include pipe fusing.
Assist and train customers on pump operation and service requirements.
Document, organize and track work orders and related forms necessary for billing/invoicing for parts and services performed on equipment.
Adhere to safety and security regulations and procedures, including the immediate reporting of all unsafe acts and/or conditions.
Required to work after-hours and weekends on a rotating on-call basis as needed.
Qualifications:
Must be knowledgeable in engine mechanics and operating principles for both gasoline and diesel engines.
Familiarity with vacuum pumps, hydraulic pumps, electric submersible pumps and controls, rotary pumps, air, electric & engine driven diaphragm pumps and related equipment.
Ability to qualify to drive a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV), prefer commercial drivers’ license (CDL) w/ HazMat endorsement.
Must have a clean driving record, solid references and a clean criminal record.
Work after hours and weekends as needed.
High School diploma or GED required; graduate of a technical/vocational training program is preferred.
Two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in the operating principles of diesel engines and industrial hydraulic pumps, including diagnosing and troubleshooting.
Experience with portable construction pumps, pipe fusing, dewatering and wastewater by-pass operations is highly desired.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Must be able to read and understand various service manuals, electrical diagrams, and troubleshooting guides.
Must be able to read and understand the Thompson Pump & Manufacturing Co., Inc. Employee Handbook, safety plans/programs, safety training materials and SDS sheets.
