Field Service Technician - Job Description
Job Summary
As a Field Service Technician, you will be on the front lines, providing operations and maintenance expertise for water treatment systems across a variety of industries. This mission-critical role involves working with a wide range of technologies, including:
Media filtration
Softening
Reverse osmosis (RO)
Ion exchange (IX)
Ultrafiltration (UF)
Key Characteristics
The following characteristics are essential to succeed in this role:
Conduct maintenance and calibration activities
Consult with customer management and operations teams
Possess excellent mechanical know-how and problem-solving skills
Ensure contract compliance with volume and quality specifications
Operate, monitor, and optimize equipment performance
Duties and Responsibilities
As a Field Service Technician, your primary responsibilities will include:
Troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and controls systems for equipment such as valves, air compressors, ejectors, process pumps, blowers, and instrumentation
Creating and maintaining site paperwork, providing customers with detailed technical summaries of work performed
Maintaining inventory of spare parts and ensuring an adequate supply of chemicals and replacement parts
Monitoring and maintaining chemical injection systems
Performing analytical testing such as turbidity, hardness, chlorine, pH, CO2, O2, SDI, TOC, along with other site-specific testing requirements
Complying with company and customer safety guidelines and requirements
Performing other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following skills and abilities:
Demonstrated ability to work independently and remotely, collaborating with project teams
Excellent problem-solving and mechanical troubleshooting skills
Basic computer skills for record-keeping and communication
Education and Experience
Required:
High School Diploma, GED, or Home School Certification (or international equivalent)
2+ years of service/maintenance experience or equivalent in an industrial environment
Valid Driver’s License
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Preferred:
2 years of experience in industrial settings, such as refineries or chemical plants
Electrical, chemical, and/or mechanical experience
Forklift experience
Working Conditions
Minimal travel required within the area for training and site support
Working with chemicals used in water treatment systems
Physical demands may include lifting up to 50 lbs
