Historic Hudson Valley Event Manager on Duty in Pocantico Hills, New York

Historic Hudson Valley (HHV) is a Westchester-based cultural non-profit that welcomes visitors to five National Historic Landmarks and presents public tours, school programs, and seasonal festivals for audiences that include suburban families seeking weekend leisure activities; K-12 teachers meeting curricular objectives and their students; and a diverse array of heritage tourists. HHV has a national reputation for groundbreaking on-site interpretation and award-winning digital content, particularly in the content areas of Northern slavery, regional women’s history, and storytelling. HHV seeks an Event Manager on Duty to support the successful nightly operation of the Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze, and other popular programming. The successful candidate will have demonstrated skill in guest services and the operation of large scale, popular, public events. Primary Responsibilities- All sites: -Responsible for the overall management and security of the event operation each night. -Provide direction to all staff and vendors. -Respond to emergencies and sensitive issues in a manner that complies with HHV policies. -Ensure a positive guest experience each night. Principle Duties: - Oversee responsibilities of ticket scanner, guides and tech support. - Ensure guests are seated correctly at Philipsburg Manor and Sunnyside events. -Deliver exemplary customer service to event guests. - Be the main point of contact for all managers on duty and support staff. - Communicate effectively with staff either in person or by radio. - Communicate effectively with guests to ensure all issues are swiftly resolved. - Communicate site concerns to off-site management in the form of nightly event reports. - Follow all site safety protocols and procedures. Work Conditions: -Site specific work, outdoors -Exposure to changing weather conditions -Will include weekend, evening and holiday assignments -May include travel/shifts at other HHV locations -Willing to be available 2-5 nights per week; weekends are preferred. -Shifts include mostly all nighttime events, ranging from 4pm-midnight. Physical Requirements: -Must be able to walk or stand on level, inclined and unpaved surfaces for extended periods of time. -Must be able to work in various weather conditions, including rain, wind, and cold temperatures. -Must be able to read and interpret written material and instructions - Computer accessibility/Knowledge of MS Office desirable.
