This position plans and directs the activities of the non-hazardous soil treatment, processing and recycling facility and develops and executes business development and sales strategies that will build the facility’s market position.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the overall management of the Clean Earth of Connecticut non-hazardous soil treatment facility, including overall Profit and Loss responsibility, processing and recycling operations, maintenance, and proper utilization of staff and equipment.

  • Oversee operations and maintenance activities for all aspects of the facility.

  • Responsible for facility compliance, transportation logistics, overall profitability, and long-term capital project planning and project management.

  • Responsible for facility Project Management of site development and maintenance projects including large scale building construction and process unit projects as required.

  • Responsible for building market position by expanding existing back-end options and developing and closing on new back-end options.

  • Work with individuals at various levels and roles inside and outside the organization, including hourly and salaried employees, managers and leadership, vendors, partners, regulatory agency staff, community members and local representatives

  • Directly and indirectly manage a team of managers, supervisors and hourly facility processing staff including laborers, scale operators, thermal plant board operators, equipment operators, administrative staff, and technical support roles

  • Work in partnership with the safety and environmental team to actively ensure a safe, environmentally compliant, and healthy work environment with a consistent focus on continuous improvement, safe work practices, positive employee health and wellbeing, and environmental compliance.

  • Generate reports for senior management and regulatory agencies

  • Maintain positive relationships with all state and local regulatory agencies

  • Recommend new work practices, coordinate flow of data to and from management, control expenditures, and recommend equipment upgrades or replacement

  • Effectively communicate company programs and initiatives to all direct and indirect employees

Basic Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental/industrial engineering, chemistry, environmental science, or business management.

  • 5+ years experience in environmental or facility operations, with at least 2 years supervisory experience preferred.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office - specifically Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to plan and supervise the work of others and motivate and lead teams. Ability to work with others at varying levels within and outside of the organization.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and strong analytical and presentation skills

  • Strong background in thermal combustion processes, electrical and mechanical aptitude, and chemistry.

  • Knowledgeable of Connecticut Remediation Standard Regulations and ability to identify and interpret RCRA hazardous waste applicability.

  • Problem-solving skills, creative thinker with ability to consider “out of the box” solutions.

  • The ability to use a computer to communicate, create, and access information.

  • Experience in the operation of treatment, processing, recycling, and/or transfer facilities.
