UPMC Lead Pharmacy Technician in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh is hiring a Lead Pharmacy Technician to work the night shift at our inpatient pharmacy at the main hospital in Lawrenceville, PA.
The Lead Pharmacy Technician at UPMC Health System provides pharmaceutical care by demonstrating expertise in various pharmacy operations. Responsibilities include coordinating daily activities, mentoring new technicians, and developing policies to improve workflow and patient care. Areas of focus may include sterile products, RobotRX operations, general pharmacy, operating room, non-sterile packaging, and controlled substances. Services comply with state and federal regulations, Joint Commission Standards, and hospital policies.
Responsibilities:
Lead quality improvement activities.
Provide direction for medication preparation.
Coordinate daily activities and develop workflow guidelines.
Train Pharmacy Technicians.
Provide feedback and interact effectively with hospital personnel.
Develop policies and oversee associates.
Maintain cleanliness and support new initiatives.
Handle cash transactions and prepare reports.
Maintain controlled substance records and complete documentation.
Distribute medication and maintain logs and records.
Procure inventory and ensure medication storage compliance.
Assist in filling medication orders.
Completion of high school diploma or equivalent or Completion of an accredited pharmacy technician program.
Five years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Operation Specialist.
Create and evaluate policy, procedure, and training materials regarding operational workflow.
Take an active role in the training of fellow staff members in one's area of expertise. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Pharmacy Technician Certification required.
Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT)
