As a Senior Accountant II, you will be responsible for accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP, ensuring compliance with Centuri's policies, procedures, and internal controls. Additionally, you will focus on generating and implementing process improvements and efficiencies, while supporting various functions within the accounting department.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare accurate and timely data for monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including compiling and maintaining supporting schedules.

  • Conduct loss contract analysis and reporting, including supporting disclosure requirements.

  • Review classification of expenses in the general ledger and prepare necessary adjustments in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

  • Perform basic and advanced accounting functions, including but not limited to financial statement preparation, analysis, regular and ad-hoc reporting, and general ledger reconciliation and analysis.

  • Oversee fixed asset accounting, including annual inventory, transfers, new company implementation, and annual asset life analysis.

  • Assist with various audit selections and provide support and documentation for internal and external audits and reports as needed.

  • Facilitate and develop complex accounting entries, templates, and processes to support Accounting management and internal control compliance.

  • Identify and lead process improvements and efficiencies within the accounting department.

  • Problem-solve independently or collaborate with various personnel to resolve issues.

  • Provide leadership and training/cross-training to peers and staff, and perform other duties as requested by management.

  • Serve as a liaison between Area office operations and Corporate Services to fulfill inquiries and requests as necessary.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

What You'll Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.

  • 5–9 years of accounting experience. CPA, CMA, or CPA candidate preferred.

  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and take initiative to complete complex projects independently under tight deadlines. Exhibits a professional and personable demeanor.

  • Exceptional attention to detail with a deep understanding of business accounting practices (GAAP).

  • Strong oral and written communication skills to clearly and professionally convey business needs and objectives to colleagues and business contacts.

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and the MS Office suite, including Power BI.

  • Skilled in reading, analyzing, and interpreting professional journals, financial reports, business plans, strategies, and legal documents.

  • Ability to solve unique problems and develop impactful methods, systems, policies, or services.

  • Strong team player with the capability to work effectively with team members and company staff.

  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality.

Work Environment

  • Work is performed in a typical indoor office environment

  • In office presence is required, with flexibility to work remotely based on business needs

  • 3-2 Hybrid schedule in Phoenix AZ except during critical deadlines

  • Must be able to work a minimum of a 40-hour work week with additional time as required

  • Must be able to read documents, use a computer, communicate verbally and in writing

  • Mobility required within an office, warehouse and construction site environments

  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds
