Summary
This position will assist the Project Manager or Superintendent to plan, direct, and coordinate activities of designated projects to ensure that goals or objectives of project are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters. The Project Engineer may be assigned their own projects to manage in a learning environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Safety:
Assures all personnel are familiar with and adhere to safety regulations and KA Safety Policy
Ensures safety-related documentation is complete, detailed, and accurate; this includes site audits, toolbox talks, and jobsite orientations.
Ensures that job trailers or Superintendent's trucks have copies of personnel policies and Job Safety Data Sheets/MSDS.
Assist the Safety Department in an effort to enforce the corporate safety and health policies and procedures
Facilitates and maintains Emergency Management Plan and completes work in accordance with the Kraus-Anderson (KA) Project Managers’ Manual.
Quality:
Participates/assists in jobsite Quality Assurance/Qualify Management System (QMS), including preconstruction meetings with subcontractors prior to starting work; log items for future QMS pre-con meetings, provides ongoing review of products, test results and applications onsite to ensure they meet specifications.
Prepares or reviews reports on progress, materials used and costs, and adjusts work schedules as indicated by reports.
Conducts regular project reviews and maintain records of project progress.
Confers with subcontractors engaged in planning and executing work procedures, interpreting specifications, and coordinating various phases of construction to prevent delays and assure on-time delivery.
Prepares project reports and generates progress photos for management, clients or others and prepares meeting minutes for foreman meetings.
Financial:
Manage and collaborates with PM to effectively manage General Conditions budget and understands overall budget.
Understands and manages yard and equipment cost.
Preconstruction/ Construction:
Studies specifications and drawings to plan procedures for construction on basis of start and completion times and staffing requirements for each phase of construction.
Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
Assists Superintendents or Project Managers with short interval schedules.
Provides daily, weekly and monthly schedule support to project team to preserve the Contract and Project Schedule.
Assures procured tools and materials to be delivered at specified times to conform to work schedules.
Assists in coordination of buildings inspections, reviews progress onsite to ensure subcontractors are keeping up with individual inspections and assists in facilitation of Owner/third party inspections.
Coordinates project activities with activities of governmental regulatory or other governmental agencies.
Generates, tracks, submits and distributes Requests for Information (RFIs) to appropriate subcontractors, maintains/updates contract documents onsite and organizes files onsite.
Conducts reviews, logs, tracks and organizes submittals; compares submittals versus specifications prior to submission.
Completes materials “take-offs”, establishes cost estimates, develops and tracks material procurement schedule.
Reviews project proposals, drawings, and plans to determine timeframe, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements and allotment of available resources to various phases of project.
Provides daily, weekly and monthly schedule support to project team to preserve the Contract and Project Schedule.
Confers with project staff to outline work plans, assign duties, responsibilities and scope of authority; coordinates activities with project staff to ensure project progress within prescribed budget and provides technical advice to resolve problems.
Assists in preparation of meeting meetings for project manager/owner meetings and follows up on Architect and Owner Field Reports.
Communication:
Provides guidance to subcontractors and assists in solving problems associated with projects.
Addresses and resolves disagreements constructively, while demonstrating respect and professionalism.
Frames messages in line with audience experience, background, and expectations; use terms, examples, and analogies that are meaning to the audience.

Explores relationships between conditions and effects; distinguishes causes from symptoms and identifies primary causes.
Advises Project Managers and Project Assistants of any issues associated with project.

Develops and maintains relationships with past, present and future clients, subcontractors, and related vendors.
Recommends potential job opportunities to Marketing Department.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Minimum 1-3 years related experience or equivalent of education and/or experience
Working knowledge of computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook)
Knowledge of Project Management software.
Continuously improving verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency and meet challenging work goals

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Four year degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or related degree
Knowledge of ViewPoint software
Other:
Valid Driver's License, ability to maintain a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record, and ability to adhere to the KA Motor Vehicle Policy.
Travel 25-75%; depending on job
