U-Haul Education Program Manager in Phoenix, Arizona

Position's Primary Function:

Under the direction of the designated supervisor, the Education Program Manager is responsible for the oversight and management of education-related materials and processes. This role includes comprehensive project management and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure educational excellence. Key duties involve defining project goals, identifying learning gaps, establishing measurable objectives, implementing effective solutions, and evaluating outcomes to foster a culture of continuous learning and development. The role also involves extensive management of Azure DevOps, including task management, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and report generation to streamline education program management and ensure alignment with organizational objectives.

Essential Duties:

  • Reasonable and predictable attendance is essential.

  • Create and oversee detailed education project plans using clear and plain language to prevent misunderstandings, ensuring plans serve as actionable roadmaps.

  • Manage and oversee Azure DevOps for educational projects, including creating and maintaining project dashboards, facilitating sprint planning, managing backlogs, and generating detailed reports for stakeholders.

  • Facilitate regular grooming sessions to refine project backlogs and ensure that priorities are effectively communicated and managed.

  • Establish and maintain key relationships with stakeholders, including end-users, frontline management, program management, and leadership.

  • Oversee and participate in the creation, revision, and updating of educational materials, including written documents, visual aids, e-learning courses, workshops, and reference materials.

  • Ensure all educational content meets high-quality standards and aligns with organizational objectives.

  • Conduct education instruction, workshops, and other learning experiences as assigned, ensuring that sessions are engaging and effective.

  • Oversee the development and updating of content for learning platforms, including instructional design and e-learning courses.

  • Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of education program management.

  • Integrate new technologies and tools to ensure that educational programs remain current and innovative.

  • Create and maintain user-friendly education-related reports, ensuring data is accurate and readily accessible.

Other Duties Performed Occasionally/Infrequently:

  • Stay updated on Azure DevOps features and best practices to continually improve project management processes.

  • Provide guidance and support to department instructors and team members.

  • Assume the role of manager on duty as needed.

  • Collaborate with external educational institutions or industry experts.

  • Encourage professional growth and skill enhancement among team members through mentoring and educational initiatives.

  • Participate in research and development to explore new educational methodologies, technologies, or tools that could enhance the overall effectiveness of education programming.

  • Attend industry conferences, seminars, webinars, or events to stay informed about the latest trends and best practices in education or project management.

Education/Training Requirements:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a related field.

  • Certification in Azure DevOps or project management (e.g., PMP, Scrum Master) is a plus.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of proven experience in education and development, with a focus on adult learning principles and instructional design.

  • Experience with Azure DevOps, including project planning, task management, and reporting is highly preferred.

Skills/Knowledge:

  1. In-depth knowledge of Azure DevOps for project management, including familiarity with backlogs, sprints, dashboards, and reporting tools.

  2. Demonstrated proficiency in planning and managing educational projects effectively.

  3. Skilled in prioritizing tasks across multiple projects with meticulous attention to detail.

  4. Skill in managing time effectively to meet deadlines across various projects, including the ability to allocate time appropriately for planning, execution, and review phases.

  5. Capacity to adapt plans and strategies as project requirements evolve or unexpected challenges arise, ensuring flexibility while maintaining project goals and timelines.

  6. Proficiency in creating educational content for various platforms.

  7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills to articulate ideas and build productive relationships.

  8. Strong ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders to achieve project objectives.

  9. Experienced in utilizing e-learning platforms and instructional design tools effectively.

  10. Strong analytical abilities and effective problem-solving skills to drive decision-making and continuous improvement.

Tools/Machinery:

  • Must be able to operate standard office equipment.

  • Proficiency with Azure DevOps, Microsoft Teams, and other project management tools.

Contacts:

Frequent or daily communication with co-workers and all levels of management both verbal and written, use of remote webinar tools such as Teams, instant messaging, "face to face" and via phone. Communication with U- Haul customers via telephone or email.

Work Environment:

Usual office conditions.

Does this position require regular supervision of individuals? Yes.

The position operates with a moderate level of supervision, autonomy in project leadership, curriculum development, and active participation in evaluation processes. The emphasis on mentorship and collaboration with a focus on fostering individual growth and skill development.

  • How many individuals are generally supervised (if any)? 10-15.

  • Is driving a motor vehicle necessary to perform duties? No.

  • Is business travel required for this position? No. May be opportunities for travel based on the education needs of U-Haul Roadside Assistance. 3-5 days per year.
