Aston Carter Staff Accountant in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Description

A publicly-traded world leader in technology, is looking for a Staff Accountant to join their headquarters accounting team in Philadelphia. As part of the Chief Accounting Officer’s organization, this role is responsible for performing monthly accounting activities as well as supporting standardization, process improvement, and optimization initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Execute business unit accounting activities, including:

o Working within various ledgers in SAP

o Preparing journal entries

o Performing account reconciliations using Blackline software

o Performing other account analyses as required

o Executing financial reporting close activities in accordance with the month-end close calendar and checklist

o Reconciling intercompany transactions domestically and internationally

• Promptly respond to requests from internal and external stakeholders

• Support internal and external audit activities

• Identify process improvement opportunities and technology enablers, and contribute to improvement projects as requested

• Ensure compliance with US GAAP and company policies, procedures and internal control environment

• Proactively take ownership of workload and escalate issues timely

• Proactively monitor and achieve deadlines, and communicate instances where deadlines cannot be met in a timely fashion

• Assist with the creation and modification of training programs and content (as needed)

Competencies:

• Inquisitive nature, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Self-starter with strong organizational skills

• Knowledge and understanding of US GAAP

• System skills: MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), SAP FI, BPC Consolidation, Blackline

• Proven ability to function effectively in a team environment

• Demonstrated interpersonal communication skills

• Attention to detail

Additional Skills & Qualifications

MUST HAVES

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance

  • 2+ years of experience within a US GAAP setting with functions related to month end close such as journal entries and reconciliations

  • 2+ years of experience working with SAP

  • 2+ years of experience with creating pivot tables, vlookups, data manipulations and advanced formulas within Microsoft Excel

  • Experience working in a manufacturing setting

NICE TO HAVE

  • 2+ years of experience in a publicly-traded or global organization

  • Experience working in FI, BPC Consolidation, and blackline

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $40.00
