Confidential Employer Lead Teacher/ Group Supervisor in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Purpose: To administer education programs as developed by GBCCC to children enrolled. Responsible to interface with parents of the children enrolled in his/her classroom. To assist children to reach their potential and prepare them for future educational experiences.
Qualifications:
Completion of an undergraduate program at an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and ECE certification; or
Completion of an undergraduate program at an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services and 1(one) year of experience related to the care and development of children; or
Completion of an undergraduate program at an accredited college or university with an associate's degree including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field ; and three years (3) work experience related to the care and development of children.
This position description must be used in conjunction with the PA Code, Title 55, Department of Human Services, Chapter 3270 paragraph 3270.35, Group Supervisor qualifications and responsibilities.
Reporting Relationship: Mentor Teacher, Assistant Director/ Director
The responsibilities of the position are detailed below:
Educational Program Management:
- Develop meaningful relationships with all children and their families in your classroom.
- Responsible for the supervision of children and planning of all classroom educational programming.
- Develop with feedback from Assistant Teacher weekly, monthly and yearly developmentally appropriate activities (lesson plans) based on the Early Learning Standards. Lesson plans are due on Wednesdays for the following week.
- Responsible for taking observational records on children assigned to your care group. These daily observational records should be aligned with your weekly standards on the lesson plans which should be shared with Assistant Teacher.
- Supervise and review observational records of children in your Assistant Teacher's care group on a weekly basis.
- Responsible to enter online assessments for all children in your class on the GOLD online assessment system three times a year and hold Parent/Teacher conferences to share progress with parents at least twice a year.
- Responsible for digitally communicating with families in your care group daily for infants/toddlers and preschoolers.
- Maintain a classroom that is organized, clean and attractive. This includes making weekly updates to the classroom parent bulletin board.
- Responsible for making weekly updates to the GOLD website and assists the Assistant Director/Director in scheduling monthly Center activities. Develop a monthly Classroom Newsletter in collaboration with the Admin Team.
- Supervise and evaluate quarterly Assistant Teacher in your classroom. Team effectively with Assistant Teacher in all aspects of the job through active communication, planning and evaluation.
- Conduct throughout the year ongoing ITERS/ECERS evaluations of the classroom environment and practices and to maintain a minimum of 5.5 overall rating to maintain our Keystone 4 A level.
- Insure that NAEYC standards are implemented, NAEYC Code of Ethics is followed and maintain and update the Classroom Portfolio annually.
- Insure that all GBCCC program philosophies are implemented in all aspects of the program including policies outlined in the staff and parent handbooks.
- Implements all safety and health procedures as delineated in the GBCCC Safety and Health Manual including hand washing and diaper changing procedures.
- Complete requi ed Health and Safety training required by DHS.(12hours)
- Ongoing annual training of 24 training hours and annual participation in
professional growth activities
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS OF THIS POSITON:
The position of Teacher/ Group Supervisor in the childcare center requires the individual to participate in physical activities that are a condition of employment. The actual physical activities of the position are too numerous to list but would generally include and are not limited to the following:
The ability to lift 50lbs. always during your employment with GBCCC.
Requires participation in outdoor activities are prescribed the PA Department of Human Services' Rules and Regulation for Child Care Centers and the Regulations for Private Kindergarten Programs as detailed by the PA Department of Education.
An acknowledgement of the essential physical functions of this position will be required to be executed and will remain in the employee's personnel file
HEALTH AND SAFETY DURING EMPLOYMENT:
An offer of employment and continued employment with GBCCC is conditional on a satisfactory Staff Health Appraisal, required at a minimum once every two years.
Employment will require adherence to GBCCC infection control policies based on the concept of Universal Precautions. Universal Precautions require that you consider every person, all blood and most body fluids, to be potential carriers of infectious disease. The policy of adherence to the concept of Universal Precautions will be strictly enforced by GBCCC. Disciplinary Action will be taken whenever the infection control policy is breached.
The position of Teacher/ Group Supervisor will be required to participate in a yearly fire safety training program conducted by a fire protection professional. Documentation of fire safety training is required.
The position of Teacher/Group Supervisor will be required to participate in pediatric first aid training conducted by a professional in the field on or before expiration of certification of training or every two (2) years, as applicable. Documentation of first aid training is required.
Maintain up to date clearances for Child Abuse, PA Criminal Background, and FBI due every 5 years. Maintain updated physical every 2 years.
