Robert Half Sr. Staff Accountant and Analyst in Petaluma, California
Description We are in search of a Sr. Staff Accountant and Analyst to be a part of our team. Situated in Petaluma, California, this role involves handling accounting tasks and supporting financial planning and analysis. The role requires managing general ledger accounting functions and conducting data analysis to deliver insights that bolster business decisions.
Responsibilities
• Ensure accurate and efficient processing of customer credit applications
• Maintain precise customer credit records
• Monitor customer accounts and take the necessary course of action
• Post monthly journal entries to the general ledger and validate the accuracy between workpapers and WTB
• Conduct monthly reconciliation of inventory to actual, including allocating COGS related to ongoing projects
• Prepare and maintain intercompany schedule and verify balances between entities
• Review monthly transactions against Working Trial balances, identifying and discussing variances between periods
• Post monthly expenses from prepaid schedules such as insurance, rent, and expenses
• Assist with periodic audits by fulfilling pre-audit support items in a timely manner
• Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and business opportunities
• Analyze financial performance against plan including revenue, expense, and profitability metrics
• Analyze revenue, COGS & expenses, and margins at the Corporate level and at the detailed product or customer level
• Maintain financial models for forecasting and budgeting
• Prepare reports for management to highlight key financial insights
• Provide support to monthly financial reporting including metrics & dashboards. Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Accounting or a similar role.
• Proficiency in Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, and Bank Reconciliations.
• Expertise in managing General Ledger and Journal Entries.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Excel for financial tasks and reporting.
• Experience with Month End Close procedures.
• Knowledge of NetSuite accounting software is preferred.
• Understanding of Fixed Asset Accounting, Fixed Asset Ledger, and Fixed Assets.
• Capable of managing Accruals and Prepaids.
• Familiarity with Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) accounting.
• Ability to conduct Variance Analysis and manage Inventory Variance.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
