Demonstrate your outstanding skills by carrying out a range of welding, brazing, and metal cutting tasks on both ferrous and non-ferrous materials and equipment at our County Maintenance Office. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position involves performing various welding, brazing, soldering, coating, and metal cutting tasks on both ferrous and non-ferrous materials for the purpose of maintaining, repairing, or constructing highways and bridges. The responsibilities include preheating and cleaning metals, preparing materials for welding, estimating repair time and materials, and making repairs to equipment, machinery, and vehicle bodies. Additionally, the role involves fabricating replacement or modified parts using different types of welding equipment, as well as working with specialized materials like stainless steel and aluminum. On a limited basis, the position also includes minor repairs of welding equipment, mechanical work, and operating motorized equipment.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment
Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Three years of experience in the operation and use of welding equipment, materials, and related shop equipment to repair, maintain, or fabricate parts, equipment, or structures; or
Completion of a three-year, high school Vo-Tech training program in welding and eighteen months of experience in the operation and use of welding equipment, materials, and related shop equipment to repair, maintain, or fabricate parts, equipment, or structures; or
Completion of an approved welder apprentice program; or
A welding certificate D1.1 from the American Welding Society; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirement:
This position requires possession of an active Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
Additional Requirements:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
Experience using any or all of the following:
plasma cutters
metal inertial gas welders
tungsten inert gas welders
arc welders
Six months or more experience estimating the cost of quantity and cost of materials, supplies, and equipment along with man hours on fabricating projects
Experience reading/referring to blueprints/schematics
