THE POSITION
The Department of Transportation is on the lookout for a skilled Automotive Mechanic to join their team in Venango County. This role involves a diverse range of tasks focused on preventive maintenance and repair work, specifically targeting hand tools as well as a fleet of construction equipment and trucks that operate on both gasoline and diesel engines. The mechanic will be responsible for handling vehicles equipped with both manual and automatic transmissions, ensuring that all machinery remains in optimal working condition.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this position, you will identify the necessary actions required for the repair of equipment to effectively complete assigned tasks. This includes obtaining cost estimates for damaged vehicles and executing all related duties and responsibilities to ensure successful repairs. It is essential to apply the necessary mechanical adjustments to the equipment to achieve the desired outcomes, all while ensuring a safe working environment for yourself, fellow shop personnel, and equipment operators.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment
Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Four years of experience in the automotive mechanic trade; or completion of an approved apprenticeship; or
Any combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.
Special Requirements:
This position requires employees to hold a current and valid Pennsylvania Class C driver's license.
This position requires possession of a Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Class 1 or Class 4 Inspection Mechanic certificate.
Post Employment Requirement:
This position requires candidate to obtain a CFC-12 Refrigerant Recycling Certificate, a 134A Refrigerant Recycling Certificate, or a Compressed Natural Gas Certificate.
Additional Requirements:
You must be able to perform essential job functions.
