POSITION SUMMARY:

• Improve work force productivity and work quality by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through planning and coordination of work force, parts and materials, as well as equipment access.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Safety must always be a top priority of job planning and scheduling;

• Arranges for necessary safety inspections, fire watches, and stand-by positions associated with ladder safety, vessel entry, scissor and boom lift watch, etc.;

• Describe what is to be accomplished and can estimate how many-hours will be required;

• Principal contact and liaison person between Maintenance and Production for scheduling maintenance activities;

• Responsible for long-range as well as short range planning;

• Receives all requests for maintenance work, reviews for accuracy and circulates to the Maintenance Management;

• Examines the job to be performed and determines the best way to accomplish the work – consulting with the requester and/or the Maintenance Management staff as appropriate;

• Visits the job site and analyzes the job in the field;

• Prepare sketches or take digital video and/or photographs to clarify intent of the work order for assigned trade’s personnel or simply as reference for self during detailed planning;

• Determines and sequences the job by specific and logical tasks or steps;

• Determines resource requirements;

• Determines what items are in stock and reserves them accordingly;

• Determines equipment and external resource needs;

• Assembles the planned job package;

• Holds the planned job package for necessary procurements;

• Maintains computerized backlog file of work orders waiting scheduling;

• Negotiates for down time windows during which selected maintenance can be performed;

• Coordinates with Production Planning and Scheduling;

• Prepare bi-weekly/daily schedules in accord with established importance and issues final schedule;

• Checks preparedness for each day of the weekly master schedule;

• Plans and schedules both major and minor shut downs and prepares appropriate reports;

• Maintains and utilizes the CMMS/EAM;

• Utilizes CMMS/EAM for all upcoming work scheduling and asset preventive maintenance activities;

• Maintains essential records and files from which accurate and meaningful reports are generated;

• Assists in the interpretation and provisions of historical equipment cost information;

• Participates in budgetary preparation, tracking, and analysis;

• Assists the Maintenance and Production Managers in periodic analysis of cost trends with recommendations for continual improvement;

• Maintains filing system to support all AIB, federal, state and local requirements.

• Acquires all Maintenance mail for distribution;

• Assure all maintenance team members of all work schedule changes through posting and personal notifications;

• Review, correct and make new HECP’s for all equipment;

• Report food safety & quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

• Associate’s degree in a technical area plus a minimum of three years of maintenance experience or five years of experience in maintenance as a trades person or technician;

• Measurement, analysis and follow-up of maintenance execution;

• Understanding maintenance and reliability operations;

• Intimate plant process and processing/packaging equipment knowledge;

• Scheduling programs and organizational skills for work orders;

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills including developing and conducting professional presentations to all levels of company employees;

• Computer Skills (MS Excel, CMMS (Champs), MS Word, MiniTab, MS Visio, AutoCAD LT, MS Project, and MS PowerPoint);

• Familiarity with Food Manufacturing policies and procedures including HAACP, SQF and AIB;

• Good communication skills for interacting with all levels of the organization;

• Possess a strong problem solving and continuous improvement mindset;

• Green Black Belt or willing to become certified;

• Ability to read and interpret documents;

• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence;

• Effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills;

• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral, diagram or schedule form.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Continuous exposure to high noise levels in manufacturing and warehouse areas;

• Manufacturing areas can be wet, slippery and have continuous forklift traffic;

• Required to walk, bend, climb, use hands to handle or feel objects, tool or controls, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel and crouch;

• Occasionally lift and / or move up to 50 pounds;

• Vision abilities require close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus;

• Occasionally works in outdoor conditions with both electrical current and moving mechanical parts;

• Personal Protective Equipment (Bump cap, ear plugs, safety glasses, hair net, beard net, non-slip shoes with hard leather top) must be warn at all times when in the manufacturing and warehouse areas.
