Eaton Corporation Senior Software Manager in Peachtree City, Georgia

Eaton’s Assemblies and Residential Solutions (ARS) Connected Solutions business is seeking a Senior Software Manager to help shape the Smart Home, Energy Management, and EV Charging industries for Eaton! The role may be located at our Peachtree City, GA or Moon Township, PA sites. Relocation assistance will be provided. A Hybrid working model – 3 days onsite/2 days remote is required.

Reporting to the Engineering Director for Connected Solutions, our Senior Software Manager is responsible for leading and scaling the software organization to develop and maintain distributed software systems and solutions for Eaton’s Assemblies and Residential Solutions (ARS) Connected Solutions business.

In this role, you will:

• Engage with and present to a wide variety of audiences, ranging from individual contributors and teams to senior leadership on the status of the software organization and the implementation of new features

• You will be a subject matter expert that can communicate the service level, instrumentation, and metrics

• Mentor and strategically lead the Connected Solutions software engineering teams, ensuring standardization, in-sourcing, and the realization of strategic initiatives

• Enable and drive the Connected Solutions software engineering teams to achieve technical outcomes rapidly and through continuous deployment, while ensuring quality and safety

• Facilitate and enable a culture of experimentation, where Connected Solutions software engineering teams are encouraged and enabled to test, fail-fast, learn, and succeed.

• Create, maintain, and integrate a three (3) year technology and architecture roadmap for Connected Solutions software solutions.

• Foster the development of new talent by helping drive outreach initiatives, sponsor internships, and collaborate with academic institutions and research centers.

• Represent Connected Solutions software engineering in efforts to influence the direction of technical policy and broader architectural concerns that span Electrical Sector and other businesses.

• Participate in industry trade and technical organizations, such as IEEE, SAE, and other standards settings bodies to advocate for Connected Solutions’ interests across industry technical software communities and foster Eaton’s leadership in the segment

• Participate in cross-division centers of leadership in software systems practices and methods, driving knowledge-sharing and education to help accelerate broad innovation

Your Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited institution is required

• Minimum of five (5) years of software leadership, overseeing dispersed work teams

• Minimum of seven (7) years of software technology experience in systems design, embedded controls design, embedded controls development, communication protocol design/standards/applications, multi-controller integration, middleware, database management and data systems design (with an emphasis on graph and time series structures and methods), and systems design, analysis, diagnostics and testing

• Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future

Your Skills:

• Demonstrated experience delivering highly distributed hybrid cloud and cloud software using state of the art software coding approaches (e.g., Angular, React, Rust, Golang, Go, JavaScript, TypeScript, C++).

• Experience with IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS service providers, to include AWS, Azure, IBM Cloud, and GCS, including the architectural norms, standards, and methods across at least one or more of these providers with an emphasis on Azure PaaS.

• Demonstrated experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD, XP, DevOps, and similar best practice development methodologies and tooling (e.g., Ansible, Chef, Puppet, SaltStack, JIRA, AzureDevOps, JAMA, BitBucket)

• Demonstrated experience in the application of Cybersecurity practices and methods (e.g., secure coding standards, static and dynamic code scanning, etc. (e.g., SonarCube, Klocwork, DeepScan, Fortify, Codacy, Coverity, Veracode, Black Duck, Rapid7)

• Exceptional ability to lead, collaborate, openly communicate, influence others, and present and negotiate effectively across disciplines and stakeholders (e.g., marketing, engineering, customer support)

• Demonstrated competency applying modern, best-practice software design principles, algorithms, data structures, and multithreading concepts

• Demonstrated competency applying advanced network and distributed computing concepts to include Ethernet, serial, WiFi, LTE, and other terrestrial and non-terrestrial communications methods

• Demonstrated experience in designing and developing publicly-facing REST APIs, B2B solutions, and B2C applications

The expected annual salary range for this role is $136,000 - $192,000 a year.
