Join the Ford Advanced EV Development team as a Summer Worker in the Electrical Distributions Systems team, where you’ll support the design and development of cutting-edge electric vehicles. As an Associate EDS Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing and developing wire harness solutions that ensure optimal performance and reliability of our electric vehicles. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and manufacturing teams, to create efficient and effective wire harness solutions. You will conceptualize, design, engineer, develop and support the launch of EDS designs for next generation Model e products.

This is a 6 month - program

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop vehicle electrical harnesses, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams. This includes assisting with electrical wiring system architecture schematics design and creating 3D CAD models of vehicle harnesses and components, focusing on efficient and innovative wiring solutions.

  • Collaborate with EDS engineers to improve new generation of ECAD and MCAD processes including new methods to gather device electrical characteristics information, improve component data bases, optimize component selection strategies.

  • Conduct static and dynamic test and simulations to analyze the behavior of wire harnesses under various operating conditions. This includes identifying potential points of failure and optimizing designs for durability and reliability.

  • Explore and implement new harness technologies for prototype and production-ready designs that support manufacturing processes.

  • Collaborate with systems integration and test engineers for vehicle bring-up to troubleshoot electrical test assets such as test benches or lab-car to validate electrical design functionality.

  • Take ownership of technical issues as they occur and guide them to resolution.

  • Actively engage in testing and validation activities to ensure efficient system functionality and performance.

  • Prepare technical documentation and reports for internal and external stakeholders.

The minimum requirements we seek:

  • Pursuing a B.S in Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent

  • Experience and working knowledge of systems development, vehicle electrical architecture, functional safety, and component level integration planning.

  • Strong interest in electrical and mechanical integration focused on automotive electronics.

  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals and ability to apply them to automotive concepts.

  • Experience with electrical / electro-mechanical devices involving networked microcontrollers and embedded software.

  • Experience with debugging and diagnosing issues across electrical, mechanical, and software domains.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • An eagerness to work cross-functionally in a dynamic environment where you are part of a high performing team.

  • A systems approach to design and development with the desire and curiosity to strive for exceptional delivery execution and continuous improvement.
