Software Test Technician

Job Description

Support vehicle content development through requirements, design, development, and quality assurance phases. Gather information from vehicles, original equipment testers, and benchmark tools through reverse engineering. Validate proof of concepts and development artifacts on bench and vehicle. Access and research new information from the web as well as information related to the development of vehicle data, service instructions, and manuals. Procure vehicles for analysis, development, and validation. Utilize automotive bus analyzers and diagnostic equipment to ensure the quality of products. Apply knowledge of vehicle mechanical fundamentals to validate designs and research new technologies to improve the design process.

Responsibilities

  • Support vehicle content development through requirements, design, development, and QA phases.

  • Gather information from vehicles, OE testers, and benchmark tools through reverse engineering.

  • Validate proof of concepts and development artifacts on bench and vehicle.

  • Access and research new information from the web related to vehicle data, service instructions, and manuals.

  • Procure vehicles for analysis, development, and validation.

  • Utilize automotive bus analyzers and diagnostic equipment.

  • Apply knowledge of vehicle mechanical fundamentals to validate designs.

  • Research and apply new technologies to improve the design process.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Knowledge of fundamental automotive technologies

  • Knowledge of basic vehicle systems including on-board controls, engine performance, transmission, ABS, and SIR modules

  • Two-year associate degree in automotive technology or equivalent training/experience (preferred)

  • Minimum of 2 years previous experience

  • ASE, IATN, or SAE certifications or affiliations

  • Proficiency in using automotive test equipment

  • Moderate knowledge and experience with PC applications such as MS Excel, MS Word

  • Basic knowledge of databases and MS Access

  • PC configuration and installation skills

  • Basic math knowledge including number systems and basic algebra

  • Clear and effective communication skills

  • Ability to follow and understand detailed test procedures

  • Self-starter and ability to organize work and schedule

  • Ability to read flow charts including process maps and test plans

  • Ability to navigate the internet for research purposes

  • Ability to work independently and with a team

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $29.00 - $35.00/hr.
