Carmeuse Americas Senior General Ledger Accountant in Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium

As Senior General Ledger Accountant, you participate to the monthly closing activity (statutory and group reporting) in accordance with BE GAAP.

You are also the person in charge of accounting from A to Z of certain entities within scope of WEU.

The Tasks

  • You are in charge of the monthly closing from A-Z in accordance with BE GAAP, French GAAP and/or Lux GAAP

  • You also review monthly balance sheet and P&L before upload in group reporting

  • You prepare VAT and intrastate declarations / statistics BNB-NBB

  • You take charge of the Group reporting in consolidation tool (Tagetik) and preparation of related additional information

  • You verify intercompany transactions in Tagetik

  • You support Credit collection

  • You calculate the income taxes

  • You prepare the annual statutory accounts

  • You maintain regular contact with other departments (controlling, tax, treasury, corporate finance)

  • You collaborate with the auditor

  • You perform account reconciliations

  • You perform ad-hoc analysis on specific GL accounts.

The Responsibilities

  • You take ‘ownership’ of the assigned companies – managing from A to Z and perform skeptical analysis on final figures

  • You deliver reliable figures for statutory and group purposes

  • You support Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable department.

The Profile

Basic Requirements (Education, Level of Experience, Language)

  • Educated to graduate degree in accounting or to bachelor degree level in business management

  • Knowledge of general ledger accounting under BE GAAP/LUX GAAP/French GAAP/NL GAAP

  • Knowledge on Belgian VAT and income taxes

  • Experience in a similar function: 5 to 10 years

  • Language skills:

  • French environment

  • Good written and oral English language skills

  • (Basic) knowledge of Dutch language is a plus

Needed Knowledges (Technical knowledge required by the position)

  • SAP FI/CO

  • ACCON (preparation NBB/BNB)

  • Experience in group reporting tool Tagetik is a plus.

The Team

The Accounting & Consolidation department is part of the Group Finance Team based in Belgium and has several responsibilities:

  • Act as a guardian for statutory accounting rules and procedures in Belgium, Luxemburg, France and The Netherlands, but also for the Group accounting rules applied for Group reporting

  • Serve as a reference for complex accounting matters

  • In charge of Group consolidation and statutory accounting in accordance with B-Gaap and Lux Gaap. The Accounting team currently manages more than 20 legal entities

  • Prepare the consolidated annual report

  • Maintain relationship with the external Group auditors

  • Administrator of our group consolidation system (Tagetik)

  • Interact on a regular basis with the other departments of the Group Finance team: Group Controlling, Group Corporate Finance & Tax, Group Treasury.
