System Verification Engineering Specialist

The Systems Verification Engineering Specialist will be supporting the development and execution of key system verification and validation plans as part of the overall constellation “Integration, Verification and Validation” (IVV) Strategy of the Telesat LEO constellation Network.
In addition, they will coordinate and participate in the various development activities with the relevant engineering and integration teams, in preparation of the system verification, for the different Lightspeed Network segments, for Pre-launch preparation as well as post launch Satellite and System level verification activities.
The System Verification Engineering Specialist will report to the Director of Constellation System Verification.
Role:
The candidate will be working with the different system segment engineering teams to help developed and plan appropriate system verification strategies and test philosophies to be executed following Launch of the Lightspeed satellites that will make up the Lightspeed constellation
These plans will influence the system verification and validation of the Telesat LEO system and will be part of the post launch Satellite In-orbit test (IOT) campaign and end to end system acceptance test phase
Main Responsibilities
Develop system and subsystem verification plans, processes and procedures with support from the different segment teams
Support verification strategy, development, and implementation of the test philosophy, including Satellite In-Orbit Testing (IOT) and Constellation System Acceptance test phases
Help develop and maintain the system verification matrices against the Lightspeed system requirements
Support, Coordinate and participate in the various system hardware and software verification processes
Assist in the implementation of networking verification tasks, ensuring seamless communication between the different segment hardware and software teams
Contribute to the development of software tools, libraries, and frameworks to enhance overall product quality, efficiency and verification approach
Participate in software and hardware design and test reviews (PDR, CDR,TRR & TRBs), providing constructive feedback to enhance equipment and code quality and adherence to equipment and coding standards.
Help to maintain configuration control data for all verification test activities
Collaborate with the segment teams to troubleshoot and resolve software or hardware defects, bugs and general technical issues raised during system verification tests
Collaborate with the segment teams to support and develop the industry leading embedded SW test methodologies
Support the integration of hardware and software components and subsystem, into the final verification of system network
Assist in the testing and validation of software features, ensuring functionality and performance meet specified requirements
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers and designers, to understand verification requirements and contribute to technical discussions
Maintain clear and organized documentation of software and hardware verification, processes, and verification development tasks
Demonstrate effective teamwork and communication skills, both orally and in writing
Work with various Segment Vendors to help integrate the verification and validation process
Work with partners and other vendors in various verification test campaigns
Help to further develop the System Verification team
Education and Experience Required
BSc or master's degree in; Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical & RF Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field
Basic understanding of system engineering verification concepts and protocols
5 to 9 years' experience in requirements-based hardware or software development, testing and verification methods, focusing on complex Aerospace/Space or Telecommunication Network systems
Familiar with configuration control process related to quality control and Verification process, non-conformance management and change control applications
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Team player with the ability to collaborate effectively within a diverse team
Good oral and written communication skills
Enthusiasm for learning new technologies and tools
Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing high-quality hardware and/or software
One or more of the following additional skills and experiences would be considered as an advantage:
Experience of Space programs, Satellite deployment, IVV and IOT processes and procedures
Experience in performing Aerospace/Spacecraft Assembly Integration & Test (AIT) or Network integration and test activities, using Electrical and RF test systems
Experience of Satellite Ground Segment deployment integration and test experience in utilizing C++ and Python as coding languages to develop embedded SW applications
Decision making and Supervision:
- This role has no direct reports currently, but will develop further as the system verification team expands, however, the candidate will work closely and interact with multi-disciplinary engineering teams
Working Conditions:
This role offers Remote or hybrid work environment
Working conditions are generally comfortable typical of an office environment
Canadian and international travel is required
The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods program (CGP)
