Job description

We are seeking an ambitious business development professional to expand our market

presence and drive new client acquisition for our pharmaceutical-related database products.

The ideal candidate will excel at identifying and converting new business opportunities through

strategic prospecting and consultative selling.

Responsibilities

In this role as Director - New Business Development, you will:

  • Achieve or exceed sales goals within your territory, winning new client logos to achieve the target

  • Manage the entire sales pipeline from prospecting to closing the sale, managing to a weekly/monthly opportunity progression cadence

  • Develop outstanding professional relationships to maximize lifetime value of each account

  • Hunt for new logos to sell syndicated product and/or Consulting sales for Citeline/Evaluate and referrals

  • Devise and execute territory and account development plans to assure quota achievement

  • Use a range of communication, sales and negotiation frameworks to increase sales to assigned clients

  • Share feedback from client interactions and strive to deliver more value to Citeline/Evaluate Customers

  • Follow-up all SQLs to establish additional opportunities within assigned accounts and record activities in Salesforce

  • Your success will be measured by the achievement of assigned sales quota/s, including Subscription and Consulting & Analytics sales within your assigned territory

  • Collaborate with your Sales Leaders, Marketing, SDR, Solution Consultant and Client

  • Success teammates to devise and pursue Account Development strategies

  • Generate sales growth through traditional and professionally creative methods

  • Provide accurate and up-to-date sales pipeline reports and sales forecasts on a weekly basis

Requirements:

  • You have an outstanding track record of quota achievement, hunting and closing business with large B2B clients

  • Results-driven with exceptional prospecting abilities

  • Record of ACV growth with a minimum of 5 years of experience in one or more of:Life Sciences IndustryBusiness Data/IntelligenceConsulting solutions deliveryGlobal organization experience (5+ years)

  • Native in Japanese and Business in English

  • You understand how analysis and information support strategic decision making

  • You have proven ability to plan, prepare, execute, and review professional meetings to achieve commercial objectives and win/win outcomes with clients

  • You have the ability to establish rapport quickly with a demanding and expert client base

  • Personable and credible, with high ethical standards

  • Strong presentation, negotiation, and closing skills

  • Skill and will to quickly assimilate new information, recall it, and apply to new situations

  • Ability to multitask, operate independently and as part of a team, in a fast-paced and dynamic business environment

  • You have experience in utilizing Microsoft Office applications and CRM systems (Salesforce)

  • Strategic thinking with ability to identify and pursue market opportunitiesYou have grit and resilience with a can-do attitude!

Preferred requirements

  • Life-science focused degree or higher

  • Network within Japanese pharmaceutical/medical device industry

Additional Information:

Travel: Minimal

Location: Hybrid – Tokyo office and remote office work

Reporting: Report directly to Head of SME & BD, Japan
