This position is responsible for independently performing respiratory care procedures, which require the ability to interpret and follow physician orders or protocols, assess patient needs, deliver prescribed therapy and evaluate patient response. Assists with the diagnosis and management of patients with cardiopulmonary disorders.

Essential Job Functions:

• Collaborates with appropriate disciplines to coordinate continuity of patient care from admission through discharge in support of the respiratory, medical and nursing plans of care.
• Ensures appropriate operations of specialized equipment through the continuous monitoring of the patient condition and all related equipment.
• Collects and analyzes sputum, blood, and breath specimens to determine levels of oxygen, carbon dioxide, and other gases.
• Measures the lung capacity of a patient to determine if there is impaired function.
• Demonstrates critical thinking and the ability to respond promptly to changes in workload or to make adjustments in assignments as needed to achieve optimal productivity, efficacy and quality patient care.
• Demonstrates familiarity with electronic charting.
• Establishes and maintain working relations with physicians and other health care personnel.
• Performs a variety of tasks.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Maintains confidentiality of all hospital and patient information at all times. Follows HIPAA regulations and policies.
• Communicate with patients, physicians, families and co-workers in person and on telephone.

Requirements

• Associates degree required. Bachelors degree or BSRT preferred
• RRT required
• State of Idaho Respiratory Care license required
• 2 years supervisory experience preferred
• Experience in Labor & Delivery preferred
• Experience and proficiency in Neonatal Intubation preferred
• BLS required during general orientation :::
