The Production Planner is responsible for the flow of parts and information to the production line. The Production Planner is a key member of the Value Stream team ensuring that materials are available in the correct location at the correct time.
YOUR IMPACT
Manage agreed upon Kanban processes and pull systems with select vendors.
Analyze data and manages the ERP system to ensure a streamlined production takt rate can be met
Release production jobs based on the production schedule and communicates with Value Stream team members
Manage selected inventory levels utilizing Pull signals and/or Kanban
Focused engagement with vendors and specified Kanban processes, inventory levels, pull system requirements and their impact on actual production status
Critical in ensuring inventory is maintained at strategic levels while developing the Value Streams mid-range inventory planning (three to eight weeks)
Work with suppliers to develop strategic and flexible pull systems so inventory can be delivered just in time
Work closely with Value Stream Manager and Team Leads to meet production targets and ensure proper material flow
Evaluate job issues for accuracy and completeness ensuring timely and continuous updates.
Verify completion and closure of all work orders and pick list
Assist in creating work station and Value Stream schedules based on capacity and material requirements
Review discrepancies in BOM’s and ensures appropriate ECR’s are submitted to improve BOM accuracies, in coordination with the Process Improvement Expert & Engineering
Perform all duties in a safe manner and keeps all employees aware of dangers in work area.
Actively participates in Relentless Continuous Improvement in conjunction with Lean Enterprise, including implementing & documenting improvements to internal processes
Coordinate with Cycle Count on any inventory discrepancies
Implement ECN Releases and Revisions working closely with Engineering
Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company’s discretion
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED required
Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or minimum of 2 years of relevant previous experience
Technical / vocational / or military training or related experience
Typically has five or more years of materials experience with at least three years experience in a similar environment
Lean, Continuous Improvement and Kaizen training and experience a plus Specialized Knowledge, Equipment, and Applications
ERP experience primarily with inventory, BOM configuration, master scheduling, job control, and purchasing modules. (Syteline ERP experience a plus)
Demonstrated ability in troubleshooting and bill of material discrepancy identification
Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills
Ability to read blueprints. PC Literate.
MS Office products experience required; MS Excel preferred
Ability to work productively and cohesively in a diverse and multicultural environment
