NY1498136 Fiber Instrument Sales, Inc., the recognized leader in manufacturing fiber optic cable, connectors, enclosures, and related components and assemblies used world-wide in the telecommunications industry has an IMMEDIATE OPENING for full-time GENERAL MACHINIST at its Oriskany, NY headquarters. Duties and Responsibilities: Plan the sequence of necessary actions for the completion of a job. Take measurements and mark material for cutting or shaping. Select appropriate machines (e.g. lathes, mills, drills)and position or load material for a job. Comply with safety rules and regulations during course of duties. Monitor machine while working to adjust and maintain necessary feeds, speeds, & temperature. Check output to ensure consistency with specifications and discard defects. Keep records of approved and defective units or final products. Independently perform basic maintenance on equipment. Interpret and utilize various manuals, technical data and work instructions for all machining operation. Qualifications: Hands on experience with different manual, semiautomated or automated tools and machines such as: -Vertical Manual Mill -HAAS 3 AXIS Vertical Mill -CNC Lathe -Surface Grinder -Band Saw / Belt Sander / Drill Press In depth knowledge of the properties of metal and other materials. Ability to read blueprints, schematics and manuals. Good verbal, written and listening communication skills. Ability to add, subtract, multiple and divide in all units of measure. Must be able to work independently. Ability to bend, twist, reach, and lift up to 50lbs. Attention to detail and focus on consistent quality. Strong organizational and prioritization skills. EXPERIENCE: 5-7 years preferred. SCHEDULE: M-F, 7am-3:30pm. Important: Wage rate will be commensurate with position, shift worked, experience, education and required skill level. Pay: From $20.00 per hour Must be able to reliably commute to or planning to relocate before starting work in Oriskany, NY. EDUCATION: High school with 5 yrs experience (Minimum) Associates / Certificate with 3 yrs min. experience.
