Utah State Job Bank Nursery/Farm Worker (Temporary) in OREM, Utah

Temporary Need: 02/01/25 - 06/15/25. Three (3) full-time, seasonal, temporary Nursery/Farm Workers needed. Requirements: A minimum of three (3) months experience. Wage is $16.63/hr. Hours: 40 hours/week, Mon-Fri. 7:00am - 3:30pm. Location: Work will be performed in Orem, Utah. Duties include: Worker will plant produce and grow bedding plants, control weeds, harvesting produce and move plants from greenhouses to carts, water and plant seedlings, requires bending and lifting up to 50 lbs. throughout the work day. Terms and conditions of employment: Tools, room, board, kitchen facilities and transportation provided at no cost to workers. Must be able to provide employment eligibility documentation (I9 verification) upon hire. The employer will provide, at no cost to the worker, Workers' Compensation coverage or private insurance which is equal to Workers' Compensation laws for comparable employment. Applicants that have not worked in nursery/crop harvesting during the past twelve (12) months, up to two (2) references will be required. The employer will offer free transportation for workers from the employers housing to the daily work site unless the office where the workers report daily to clock in or the designated field to report to is within walking distance. Transportation between worksites during the regular work day is compensate. Once a week, the employer will offer to those workers who wish to participate, free transportation to and from town where there are shopping stores, a post office and pay telephone. Workers that do not reside within commuting distance and who are eligible for employer provided housing are also eligible for transportation benefits. The employer will reimburse the worker for the reasonable cost of transportation and subsistence from the place from which the worker has come to work for the employer, whether in the U.S. or abroad to the place of employment, to the employer's location upon completion of fifty percent of the employment period, or earlier. The employer guarantees to offer the worker employment for a total number of work days equal to at least 3/4's of the total work period beginning with the first workday after the arrival of the worker at the place of employment or advertised contractual first day of need. Whichever is later to occur, and ending on the expiration date specified. If the worker completes 50% of the work contract period, the employer shall pay the worker the cost incurred by the worker for transportation and daily subsistence from the place from which the worker has come to work for the employer ($15.88/day, maximum $59/day with receipts). The offered wage equals or exceeds the highest of the prevailing wage that is issued and determined by DOL for the time period the work is performed (or whichever is the highest pay rate). This job is in connection with a future H-2A labor certification application.
