About this position:

Custodial Supervisor A is a supervisory position responsible for the direct supervision over an assigned group of lower-level custodians. This position assumes a lead role in the oversight and active completion of all custodial tasks aimed at ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of all SoLAcc spaces as assigned by the Facilities Department.

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Two years of experience in custodial, housekeeping, groundskeeping, or food service work.

FUNCTION OF WORK:

To supervise a custodial work unit in order to maintain the cleanliness, sanitary conditions, and appearance of state buildings, facilities, institutions, etc.

LEVEL OF WORK:

Supervisor.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

General from a Custodian Supervisor B or Custodian Manager. Other reporting relationships may be approved by SCS.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

Direct over lower-level Custodians. Other reporting relationships may be approved by SCS.

LOCATION OF WORK:

All state agencies.

JOB DISTINCTIONS:

Differs from Custodian 3 by the presence of direct supervisory responsibility.

Differs from Custodian Supervisor B by the absence of supervisory responsibility for multiple custodial work units.

• Supervises all subordinate lower-level custodians for all assigned tasks, assigning those tasks and ensuring that all equipment is provided for the completion of those tasks.

• Approves all leave requests and formally evaluates all assigned subordinates.

• Trains lower-level custodians on the proper procedures and safety protocols for all custodial work.

• Responsible for creating and implementing the Master Cleaning Schedule, revising this schedule as needed.

• Reviews and inspects all custodial work performed, identifying deficiencies, and addressing any lapses in the technical ability of lower-level custodians that may be causing substandard work.

• Utilizes the FMX work order systems as required for custodial work orders submitted by faculty and staff.

• Oversees all custodial inventory, preparing supply requisitions when needed so that adequate stock is on hand.

• Clean and sanitize restroom and bathroom areas using established practices and procedures.

• Ensures all floors are swept, vacuumed, mopped, and maintained per the Master Cleaning Schedule and as assigned.

• Refill all restroom dispensers to ensure an adequate supply of paper products as assigned.

• Performs specialized floor maintenance and upkeep utilizing established protocols and industrial-grade machinery.

• Acts as the primary point of contact for the notification of janitorial supply inventory needs.

• Complete all monthly, quarterly, and annual deep cleaning tasks identified in the Master Cleaning Schedule and as assigned.

• Reports building or equipment repairs as needed to the maintenance department.

• Performs other related duties as assigned.
