Amergis $50/hour Clinic RN - Oklahoma in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

The Registered Nurse – Clinic/Wellness/Immunization works in a variety of either remote or clinic locations to serve a specific population's health and wellness needs. The Registered Nurse demonstrates the ability to make clinical judgments effectively and efficiently to provide quality appropriate care in accordance with facility’s policies and protocols. These variety of sites include but are not limited to community or employment immunization clinics, wellness clinics, job safety and workers compensation sites and travel health clinics from pediatric to geriatric age populations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates a patient’s health status, estimates the level of health risk and informs/provides feedback to patients to motivate behavior change to reduce health risks

  • Identifies and prioritizes actions based on patient care requirements

  • Performs interventions according to identified priorities, plan of care, and clinic/site policies

  • Provides a safe, comfortable and therapeutic patient environment

  • Initiates patient and family education when appropriate

  • Documents patient’s responses to nursing care and other interventions as well as follow up recommendations

  • Monitors the safety and effectiveness of the environment and equipment

  • Must have working knowledge of universal precautions

  • Knowledge of protocols for reporting adverse reactions, incidents, and injuries

  • Knowledge of Workers Compensation assessments and reporting if applicable

  • Knowledge of Immunization and Vaccine schedules and safety

  • Administers vaccines or any necessary medications per site/facility protocols

  • Appropriately stores, transports, and handles vaccines

  • Safely and appropriately transports biological material, sharps, and other required supplies to clinic sites

  • Appropriately handles and disposes of biological waste

  • Completes appropriate participant consent forms and clinic records

  • Inputs information into the client’s database for tracking per policy/protocol and state regulations if applicable

Minimum Requirements:

  • Current Registered Nurse License for the state in which the nurse practices

  • One year experience as a nurse in a clinic or immunization setting preferred • Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice

  • Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable

  • Current CPR if applicable

  • TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

  • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)

  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site

  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements

  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required

  • Computer proficiency required

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

    General Comments

    Local Hourly Pay Rate: $50/hour

    Mileage Reimbursement: $0.50 per mile

    Medical Staff would work no more than 40 hours a week, Normal Working hours M-F. There may be outreach events that occur during the weekend that we would request them to attend.

    The Licensed Practical Nurse/Medical Assistant/Registered Nurse will serve as sexually transmitted infections (STI) assessment, treatment, and training nurse for the Sexual Health and Harm Reduction Service (SHHR). Candidate must be willing to travel to local and rural areas with the Rapid Start Clinicians to provide HIV/STI assessment, treatment and sexual health prevention education to individuals, or groups in a multi-county areas across Oklahoma in non-clinical setting. Candidate must be available to work at outreach events when necessary. The candidate will be comfortable working with high-risk patients such as HIV/STI and Hepatitis C, who are at increased risk of secondary infections. This candidate will have experience with oral presentations and be able to prepare and delivery STI related training for internal and external stakeholders. Duties will include the assessment of individual health, relay test results to Rapid Start providers determine medical and nursing care needed, planning a treatment strategy to meet identified needs and evaluating responses to treatment interventions.

    Position Responsibilities /Essential Functions

    • Must have exhibit knowledge and comfort in Initiation and engaging in sexual health conversations with clients and colleagues.

    • Obtain specimens for STI screening including serology, rapid test, urine, or PCR swab for gonorrhea/chlamydia.

    • Obtain and document vital signs.

    • Assist with scheduling and cancellation of client appointments if necessary.

    • Receive and follow through with orders from Physician Assistant and Advanced Nurse Practitioner.

    • Must have typing skills, be detailed oriented and Document client care information accurately in electronic health record.

    • Provide client centered STI information regarding STI prevention/harm reduction counseling and education including use of condoms and other STI prevention barrier devices.

    • Assist with coordination of care/client referrals to higher level of for assessment of neurosyphilis or penicillin desensitization.

    • Assist with calling in refills and obtaining prior authorizations for pharmacies and patient insurance for medication treatment.

    • Assist Rapid Start Providers with medication and supply inventory if when needed.

    • Consults and collaborates with physicians and community based providers as needed related to patient care and follow up.

    • Administer STI Academy trainings for OSDH and community nurses.

    Other Duties

    • Must have experience working with and communicating through electronic office devices including Laptop/tablet/computer, fax, cell phone and Microsoft office Software.

    • Experience working with individuals with diverse relationships and sexualities

    • Demonstrated knowledge of, and experience working with LGBTQI communities.

    • Strong knowledge and comfort working with marginalized populations (drug/alcohol affected, low income, homeless etc.)

    • Demonstrates knowledge of and supports mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior.

    • Participate in and assist with sexual health and harm reduction trainings

    • Works effectively independently and in team environment, participating and assisting their peers.
