Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Engineering Internship - PennDOT - District 1 (College) in Oil City, Pennsylvania
Reference #: 4309867 THE POSITION: The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is seeking hardworking Civil, Construction, Environmental, or Structural Engineering students for employment during the summer months for the 2024 Summer Employment Program!
This internship opportunity will provide hands-on experience and exposure to various engineering projects and processes within our organization. As an Engineering Intern, you will have the opportunity to work closely with experienced engineers and gain valuable skills that will kickstart your career in engineering.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK: As an engineering intern, you will have the opportunity to learn roadway, pavement, drainage and bridge designs; construction and materials testing; traffic systems design and operations; or maintenance asset management methodologies.
This internship will allow you to develop your technical skills, apply classroom knowledge to real-world projects, and work alongside engineering professionals who are passionate about innovation and excellence.

Internship opportunities associated with this posting will be for Engineering District 1 which consists of Crawford, Erie, Forest, Mercer, Venango, and Warren Counties.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Work hours will vary based on position
- Some positions may require travel
- Compensation is credit based for Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Structural Engineering majors:
- Less than 90 credits - $20.35
- Over 90 credits - $21.22

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY:
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Students who are interested in a PennDOT internship must meet all of the following requirements:
- Must be a high school graduate or college student enrolled (or intending to enroll) on a full-time or part-time basis in a 2- or 4- year post-secondary education program for the fall semester.
- Enrolled part or full-time for the next semester by the start of the internship in an applicable major.
Acceptable Majors:
- Civil Engineering
- Construction Engineering
- Environmental Engineering
- Structural Engineering
- In good academic standing (as defined by a GPA of 2.0 or higher)
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Special Requirement: Certain positions require a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License
- Additional Requirements:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Majors:
- Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
