Your new role, what’s involved?

WSP’s Ground & Water team are involved with many key projects of regional and national significance. We are growing our world class team to ensure we continue to deliver the high calibre of service and technical excellence that both we and our clients expect. We are seeking an individual to act as a project manager / project coordinator for our technically challenging and complex projects. This will primarily be with our nuclear clients, but with opportunities to support the diverse projects undertaken by the wider Earth and Environment teams at WSP, including mining and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing projects throughout the full project lifecycle including the governance, initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and closure phases and resource co-ordination across project management and technical interfaces. Experience with Oracle Business Platform (or similar) project management system is preferred.

  • Management and support for the preparation of proposals / bids, following the required WSP processes and governance.

  • Project management / coordination of complex technical deliveries including commercial and health & safety perspectives.

  • Management and understanding of commercials including budget tracking, forecasting and invoicing.

  • Liaising effectively and efficiently with clients, multiple subcontractors and technical experts to ensure projects are delivered on scope, on time and on budget.

  • Review of technical documents and regular communication with technical teams and subject matter experts to ensure alignment with non-technical project requirements.

  • Leading and facilitating internal and client project meetings.

  • Project delivery both to programme and budget with monthly progress reports and measurement against project key performance indicators.

  • Managing project delivery via the internal Oracle Business Platform, including setting up opportunities, projects and supporting project reviews and governance management queries.

  • Supporting multiple projects at any one time or varying scale and complexity

  • Continuing personal development

This role would ideally be based in Northern England but for the right candidate we would consider one of our other offices across the UK.

YOUR TEAM

WSP’s Ground & Water team has team members in many offices around the UK, reflecting the diverse range of projects and locations on which we work. This role would work predominantly with our nuclear clients such as Nuclear Restoration Services and Nuclear Waste Services, to whom we deliver complex projects across a range of land quality and ground characterisation studies. The part of the Ground & Water team that tackles these projects is centred in Nottingham. We are well integrated with other facets of WSP’s consultancy business, collaborating on a variety of subjects as the projects require. This means that the subset of colleagues you work with will span a range of different disciplines.

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • Have a strong project management, resource co-ordination and experience of Oracle Business Platform background.

  • Experience working on large nuclear projects or similar complex technical projects / clients, both from a project management and technical perspective.

  • Understanding of land contamination, ground characterisation and a desire to learn.

  • Working knowledge of Construction Design and Management (CDM) Regulations.

  • Chartered or working towards Chartership (including in Project Management).

Skills / Attributes

  • Ability to remain clarity of focus resolving governance, resources and technical interfaces.

  • Excellent communication skills and experience of dealing directly with clients, subcontractors and technical experts.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and follow required processes.

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team.

  • Demonstrate logical and independent thinking.

  • Proven ability to maintain an organised overview of complex projects.

  • Experienced and high capability with Oracle Business Platform, Microsoft Word, Excel and SharePoint.
