We are seeking a First Cook to prepare food for catered events at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel and Conference Center in Norwood, MA! The First Cook's primary goal is to assist in preparing high quality dishes and executing special events to make them more memorable and enjoyable for our guests!

Under the direction of the Executive Chef/Banquet Chef, the fundamental duties of the First Cook include responsibilities from basic food preparation to more complex culinary methods such as roasting, sautéing, preparing sauces and following a variety of recipes. The First Cook works with a degree of independence and is responsible for making decisions requiring sound judgement on policies and culinary standards in the absence of Executive Chef/Banquet Chef. Supervises the preparation of food by Cooks to ensure that the food is cooked at the right times, quality, portion size and ready to serve.

  • Contribute to food service operations by assisting and supervising all operations related to the kitchen including preparation, cooking, and storage of food, sanitation, etc. Physically delivering a food product according to the hotel's and food safety standards. Weigh, measure, mix and prep ingredients according to recipes. Check food and ingredients for freshness. Arrange and garnish dishes. Work well under pressure and within the time limit.

  • Conducting oneself and work in a clean and safe manner, maintaining a professional atmosphere at all times.

  • Meeting any special requests presented by guests. Preparing the dishes with creative flair. Being knowledgeable of ingredients used in foods to comply with a customer's specific dietary requirements.

  • Performs inventory checks and completes food storage logs.

  • Ensure to attend and complete any/all Marriott, FM Global and industry related training(s).

  • A minimum of two years of Lead/First Cook experience at catered events. 5+ years of high volume cooking experience preferred.

  • Associates degree in Culinary Arts preferred

  • Knowledge of sanitation, cooking methods (i.e. sautéing and grilling) and knife skills

  • Local Board of Health ServSafe certification required

  • Experience cooking on the line, making soups and knowledge of temperature logs

The salary range for this position is $21.39-$26.78/hour USD. The final salary offer will vary based on geographic location, individual education, skills, and experience.
