Position Scope/Summary

Responsible and accountable for all batching/processing activities during the production shift. Able to direct and train other batchers, as needed, in all batching functions.

Job Description:

Key Result Accountabilities

  • Efficient batching to ensure continuous availability to the production line

  • Adheres to company safety, conduct sanitation, and follows Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) in all areas of responsibility

  • Follows established batching Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and batching instructions including documentation of key data (lot codes, mixing times, cooking temperatures, etc.) for the processing of consistent, high quality product

  • Follows established “Clean – out “procedures between products

  • Communicates with Utilities, Leads, and the packaging supervisor as necessary to coordinate batch changes and product changes

  • Coordinates transition of batching activities to the following shift

  • Knows how to use computer touch panel to view recipe

  • Follows scanning and bar-coding procedures while adding ingredients to batches

  • Keeps processing area clean and organized

  • Makes all calculations to correct batch errors or adjustments and completes paperwork accordingly.

  • Adds ingredients to batches in prescribed manner and follows recipes to meet customer specifications

  • Drives lift truck as needed to spot ingredients and move pallets to and from platform

  • Assists in setting up drum, pumps and other tools to handle ingredients

  • Advises other batchers of necessary changes or corrections

  • Provides information as needed to Pre-batchers and to Quality Assurance for batch adjustments

  • Adheres to company’s safety, conduct, sanitation, and GMP policies

  • Participates on plant teams and committees

  • Responds to changes proactively, and handles other duties as necessary

  • Performs other tasks as requested by supervisor

Qualifications

  • Positive Mental Attitude

  • Capable of multi-tasking

  • Able to direct and delegate responsibilities

  • Handles multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Demonstrates a strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills

  • Possesses strong communication skills (written and oral) and math skills

  • Possesses strong organizational and planning skills, and is detail oriented

  • Complete understanding of processing operations

  • Knowledge of BVF Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s)

  • Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds, anything over should seek assistance

Environmental Working Conditions

  • Employee must comply with all safety policies and safe work procedures established by the company. Job tasks may also involve:

  • Using personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, goggles, gloves, and other equipment as established in company policies and safe work procedures. Compliant with the uniform policy.

  • Lifting to 50 pounds, anything over should seek assistance

  • Frequent carrying, bending, standing, sitting, and repetitive motion

  • Employee will be expected to attend safety training, serve on the facility safety committee and participate in hazard analysis and resolution
