Job Description
The Principal Mechanical Engineer position within the Science and Technology (S&T) organization is responsible for leading the design, development, analysis, testing and improvement of mechanical systems and components for electro-mechanical combination and medical device products. This technical expert will be accountable for progressing the team’s mechanical technical capabilities and technologies. This role requires expertise in mechanical engineering principles and demonstrated experience solving complex mechanical engineering problems. Primary goals, objectives and functions include:
Leading the design and development of mechanical systems and components to meet project specifications.
Leading and conducting analyses and testing to ensure the reliability and performance of mechanical designs.
Leading the SolidWorks modeling of products and components
Using SolidWorks to run various analyses and simulations on the design
Collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical designs into larger systems.
Provide technical expertise in the support and problem solving of mechanical systems.
Responsibilities:
Lead mechanical designs and improvements of the mechanical components and systems
Lead the SolidWorks modeling for products and components.
Architect and guide the best practices for SolidWorks modeling, libraries and EPDM workflows.
Lead complex mechanical analyses (FEA, tolerance analysis, Computations fluid dynamics) as needed to improve product and component designs.
Perform simulations and analysis to validate designs and investigate design issues.
Lead root cause investigation and design solutions for complex engineering problems.
This mechanical expert will mentor and guide less-experienced engineers through various technical challenges and projects.
Lead projects with external partners to design and manufacture parts and assemblies.
Lead the development and execution of test plans to ensure product performance and reliability.
Advance the mechanical engineering capabilities, knowledge and technologies within the technical team
Collaborate with manufacturing teams to optimize designs for production.
Prepare technical documentation and reports.
Participate in design reviews and provide feedback on mechanical designs.
Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and efficiency.
Stay updated with the latest advancements in mechanical engineering and apply them to projects and internal engineering practices.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering AND Twelve (12)+ years of direct mechanical design experience modeling designs in SolidWorks.
A Master’s degree in mechanical engineering AND Ten (10)+ years of direct mechanical design experience modeling designs in SolidWorks.
Five (5)+ years of experience in the Medical Device, Biotech or Pharmaceutical Industries in relevant device development roles.
Expert-level capabilities in SolidWorks CAD software.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Experience designing products to meet medical device regulations (FDA, EU MDR, etc.)
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Experience with tolerance stack-up analyses.
Experience executing and documenting Design Verification testing for medical devices.
Experience executing Reliability Verification testing for electro-mechanical medical devices.
Preferred:
Experience using Polarian product development and Veeva Vault documentation tools.
Experience with FEA and CFD tools.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

Salary: $117,500 - $223,500
