Your Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities.

  • Develop annual operating and capital budgets with management company and ensure strategy and tactics are implemented to achieve targets.

  • Conduct monthly financial review and variance analysis.

  • Oversee third party leases for retail, parking, entertainment, etc.

  • Provides direction, training, mentoring and leadership to General Managers/Hotel Managers and demonstrate ability to convince hotel stakeholders, absent direct control, to act on solid recommendations for incremental revenue, operations proficiency, and profitability at hotels.

  • Ensures key leadership positions meet brand criteria (GM, DOS, other key roles)

  • Continuously analyzes operational needs and efficiency for each assigned property.

  • Act as central point of contact for Choice resources to ensure property is taking advantage of all programs.

  • Recommend property-level asset improvement plans.

Your Experience, Skills & Competencies

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university in Hotel Management, Business Management, or a relevant field of study required.

  • Minimum 10 years of experience preferably in the hotel or hospitality industry including extensive corporate level, multi-unit hotel operations management and sales support.

  • Demonstrated financial acumen with significant past P&L responsibility.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise with all proprietary systems and industry related support technologies including, but not limited to, Franchise Services designated CRM, Choice University online, ChoiceADVANTAGE, Rates Center, SmartRates, Medallia, Smith Travel Research, and company-supported price positioning software solutions (e.g. Rate Gain, Travel Click resources, etc.).

  • Significant experience with oversight of branded, Upscale properties.

  • Recent experience with a major management company or Brand Managed portfolio oversight role is strongly desired.

  • Exceptional service orientation, with keen ability to focus and deliver on guest needs.

  • Proactive approach, with exceptional initiative and problem-solving abilities to ensure the highest levels of productivity and guest satisfaction.

  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to balance multiple project support requests beyond ongoing portfolio support requirements.

  • Proven leadership skills in supporting employees to consistently attain personal, departmental, and organizational performance goals.

  • Ability to work effectively as an independent contributor, and as a part of a collaborative team.

  • Ability to convey and apply revenue management principles as well as essential practices.

  • Excellent analytical and data management skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, franchise industry savvy, and proven track record in driving hotel performance success.

  • Excellent training, consulting, presentation, and persuasion skills.

  • Excellent time-management, attention to detail and follow-up resulting in meeting deadlines and exceeding goals.

  • Advanced use of Microsoft suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to travel up to 70% of the time.

Your Team

This is a leadership role that will report to the SVP, Upscale Brands. You will have 2 Direct Reports and collaborate with cross functional departments on a regular basis.

Your Work Location

As our Director, Upscale Food & Beverage you will be based in our beautiful, state-of-the-art worldwide corporate headquarters in North Bethesda, MD. Less than 15 miles from Washington, DC, we’re located one block away from the North Bethesda Metro station, with service on the Red Line and the MARC Brunswick line, easy access to I-270, and plenty of free parking provided by Choice Hotels.

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $135,000 to $160,000 annually. In addition to the annual salary, this role is eligible for an annual bonus based on the terms of Choice's Management Incentive Plan (MIP).

The pay range listed is for this position and is what Choice Hotels reasonably expects to pay. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the pay range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.
