UCP of Western Massachusetts Adult Companion in North Adams, Massachusetts

Job Type: Part time Schedule: 20 hours per week Location: North Adams, MA 01247 \$750 sign on bonus! ADULT COMPANION RESPONSIBILITIES: The Adult Companion staff provides non-medical care, supervision, and socialization to a functionally impaired adult. The Adult Companion\'s role is designed to give caregiving family members a break.They may assist or supervise the individual with such tasks as meal preparation, light housekeeping,laundry, grocery shopping, driving to medical appointments and other activities to enhance their qualityof life. This service is provided in accordance with a therapeutic goal in the service plan. Driving members in the local area required. Daytime hours and occasional weekend hours required. Clients located in the Adams area. ADULT COMPANION QUALIFICATIONS: - Must be at least 18 years of age - A high school diploma, or have life or work experience with individuals with disabilities - Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information - Appropriate communication skills to effectively communicate with members, parents and professionals - Be able to handle emergency situations - Understanding of the importance of supporting the dignity and human rights of all members - Have certification in CPR/First Aid or ability to be certified - Valid driver\'s license, safe driving record, availability of private vehicle, up-to-date car insurance - CORI, SORI, DPPC and National Fingerprint Check - A negative Mantoux TB test or a clear chest x-ray ADULT COMPANION BENEFITS: - Employee sign on bonus program - Vacation, personal time and sick leave benefits - 403(b) retirement program - Mileage reimbursement - College tuition remission program - Employee referral program and more!
